Naveen Pattnaik's Odisha government has supported the growth of Indian hockey and has hosted the World Cup along with other tournaments. The Odisha government has been sponsoring the Indian men's and women's hockey teams.
Indian men's hockey team captain Manpreet Singh thanked Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik after his team defeated Germany 5-4 to win the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, on Thursday, August 5.
