The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are the defending champions of the Indian Premier League 2019 (IPL 2019) and arguably one of the most successful as well. CSK was banned from IPL for two years by the Supreme Court appointed Lodha committee. As a result, they did not participate in the 2016 and 2017 edition of the IPL with their team members moving to the two interim franchisees that came up. But with the ban ending, the CSK came back with a bang in 2018 sweeping away the opposition with ease. They went on to lift the Cup beating Sunrisers Hyderabad.
