The three-match T20I between India and England is done and dusted with the visitors winning it by 2-1. The action now shifts to three-match One-Day International (ODI) series, which starts from July 12. Apart from winning the series, India’s eyes will be on the number one ranking in the ODIs. England and India enter the ODI series as top two ranked teams. England are currently ranked one with a rating of 126 while India is at second spot with a rating of 122.

England recently whitewashed Australia 5-0 and by that virtue cemented their place at the top of the ODI rankings. England’s numero uno position is now under the threat as they meet India in the short series. As per the ICC Team Rankings Predictor, if India whitewashes England 3-0, then the Virat Kohli-led side will climb to the number one position in the ICC ODI Team Rankings with a rating of 125. In this case, England’s ranking will drop to second with a rating of 123.

If one of the three matches is washed out due to rain and India wins the remaining two ODIs, then in that case as well the Men in Blue will take the number one position. Team India is currently ranked number one in Tests and will be hoping to achieve the same in ODIs as well. In the game’s shortest format, India is ranked second, despite the series win over England, with Pakistan on top.
