International Cricket Council (ICC) has said that it has received over three million applications for approximately 800,000 tickets for the upcoming World Cup, which begins on May 30 in England. Though the tickets for the World Cup were on sale earlier as well. The remaining tickets will now again go on sale for the mega tournament. However, once again it will be available on a first-come, first served basis.

Fans who earlier missed out will have the chance to secure tickets immediately on March 21. “The Official Resale Platform will re-open at a later date for fans who can no longer attend to pass on their tickets at face value to other fans. 14k tickets have been put on the Resale Platform and 13.5k sold, helping avoid secondary ticket sites over inflating ticket prices for genuine fans. This will continue to be the only official channel to exchange tickets with other fans,” read the official release by ICC.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 begins on May 30 with home side England up against South Africa. Defending champions Australia begin their campaign on June 01 against Afghanistan. India will open their World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 05.
