ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Virat Kohli and Men Likely to Leave for World Cup on May 22; Kedar Jadhav Expected to be Fit

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is less than a fortnight away. With the IPL 12 just coming to an end only last Sunday the Indian cricketers are enjoying their short holiday with their family and friends. Post this, the team will gear up for the mega-event that starts from May 30, 2019, in England and Wales. Virat Kohli and men will leave for England on May 22 early by an early morning flight. Also, the good news for the Indian fans is that Kedar Jadhav, who had suffered from a shoulder injury during IPL 2019, is also expected to be fit for the tournament. The practice games will begin from May 24, 2019, and India will play their opening game on June 5 against South Africa at the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground. With names seasoned campaigners like Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and others, the Indian team is expected to do well in the mega-event. However, Dinesh Karthik’s selection over Rishabh Pant became a matter of debate. “He has the experience. If god forbid, something happens to MS (Dhoni), Karthik can be immensely valuable behind the wickets. As a finisher, he's done well. So, it was the overall exposure to a tournament of this magnitude that was taken into primary consideration,” said Virat Kohli in an interview with the Times of India. Ambati Rayudu was dropped from the squad and Vijay Shankar was named instead for the tournament.
