That's It! End of day's play and India will consider themselves considerably ahead in the game. The day started brilliantly with India pushing England down to 84/5 in no time. But then Jamie Smith and Harry Brook staged a counter-attack stitching a partnership of 303 runs. When Brook was dismissed, England suffered a collapse again and India ended up getting a lead of 180 runs. They have started the second innings on a solid note and looking to set a very big target for England this time with two days still in hand. For England, they have a challenge in front of them. 

Out! Some controversy over timing of signaling for the DRS there. Ben Stokes stormed to the Umpire saying the clock has ticked over when Yashasvi Jaiswal signaled for the DRS. But in the end, the Umpire accepted the DRS appeal and in the end the replay showed three reds. England had the decision in their favour in the end and India lose a review. Jaiswal lbw b Tongue 28(22).

India have a headstart in terms of the lead they have achieved in the first innings. The England bowlers have already bowled enough and didn't have much rest since England batted only for a little over than three sessions. They will be tired in this innings and the Indian batters can take the full advantage of it. It has to be seen how much lead they take before considering declaration. 

Out! Sensational bowling display from Mohammed Siraj. Found his line, length and movement with the second new ball and fully utilised it. Makes another one jag back from outside off, Shoaib Bashir shoulders arms and the ball wrecks the stumps. Jamie Smith remains stranded on 184 on one end. India will be very happy with the lead and the bowling performance. Bashir b Siraj 0(2).

Out! Mohammed Siraj has been on a roll with the ball in hand. Targets the pads of Josh Tongue, goes wide of the crease to jag one back in and hits him on the pads in front of the wicket. A reluctant review from Tongue although he knew he was gone. England have collapsed here after the wicket of Harry Brook. Jamie Smith remains stranded on one end.  Tongue lbw b Siraj 0(2).

Out! Indian bowlers are getting the new ball talk. It is Mohammed Siraj who strikes now. Gets one to nip back sharply and hit the pads of Brydon Carse. It did seem like bat-pad, but India opted for the DRS and on review it showed that it did hit the pad first. The hawkeye showed the ball was hitting stumps and India get another wicket in no time. Brydon Carse lbw b Siraj 0(4).

Out! It is Akash Deep again who strikes and India are closing in on getting a solid lead by cleaning up the England tail. England's scoring rate has slowed down since the second session and after the second new ball was taken, Akash Deep has bowled a solid spell pushing the hosts to the backfoot once again. It was full outside off, Chris Woakes flashed with his drive and got a nick which carried to the hands of Karun Nair at slips. Woakes c Karun Nair b Akash Deep 5(17).

Out! Finally a breakthrough and the 303-run partnership comes to an end. India will be relieved as they have found an window of opportunity better late than never. The second new ball was showing signs to do a few things and Akash Deep got one to jag back enough to clean up Harry Brook. Brook was bamboozled and didn't have much to do. If it is a challenge of piling up runs, how can Harry Brook stay behind? Came in at a very tough time but never looked up after the initial few minutes. Specially on Day 3, he has been absolute solid, played some sensational shots and at the same time kept England alive in the game alongside Jamie Smith. Also brought up his the 150 runs on his way. Given the mammoth runs they are running behind, both know their job is far from over. 

After a counter-attacking first session of play where England were down to 84/5 at one point, Jamie Smith and Harry Brook have added 271 runs together in just two sessions and now England can gratually see the top of the mountain of runs India posted initially. In the second session England rather consolidated with the old ball going soft and India adapting a defensive tactics. But they have kept the patience and opted to accumulate as well. Both the batters on the crease know they have a lot of work to do from here on and getting ahead of themselves is not an option. Shubman Gill meanwhile will want to play the patience game here. 

It has not been the best scoring time for England like it was for them in the first session. The softer ball has been hard to get away and India has been defensive as well. But even then the two batters out on the crease Jamie Smith and Harry Brook have kept the scoreboard ticking and Smith has reached the 150-run mark too. 

Shubman Gill has changed his strategy in the last few overs. With the ball getting softer and strokeplay being not so easy. He has packed up the cover region and asked his bowlers to slow down tempo by bowling wide of off. Both Harry Brook and Jamie Smith have tried the cover drive on occasions but have failed to get the required timing on them. The search for wickets continue. 

Hundred! Harry Brook joins Jamie Smith and no mistake like he did in the last match missing out on a well-deserved hundred. Came in at a time England were in big trouble and when the hosts progressively got in more trouble, he showed why he is rated so much alongside Jamie Smith and dominated the Indian bowlers and got to his century. He will know his job is far from being done and he needs to stay much longer on the crease. 

What a fantastic knock from Jamie Smith. Came in at a time when England were in tremendous pressure being down at 84/5. From there he took on all the bowlers, played some sensational shots and reached his century. He has brought out England for the deep waters they were in but the work is far from being done while going in the lunch break. He has to play a very big knock here just like Shubman Gill did to keep the game in balance. This is his second Test century and the joint-third fastest for England. 

India now has the spinners operating from both ends and his high rish high reward strategy by bombarding both Harry Brook and Jamie Smith will short balls has not paid off so far. Shubman Gill has considered the seamers need to be conserved now and has deployed spin from both ends luring the batters to plau their shots consideirng India has the cushion of runs. 

A bit of phase of play where the game is running pretty fast. Prasidh Krishna has came to the attack and tried to bounce out both the batters on crease. Jamie Smith got hold of him in one over and accumulated 23 runs in one over. Eventually he also completed his half-century and joined Harry Brook, who also completed his half-century. 

England didn't have the kind of start they would have wanted to their innings and to the day. They lost two of their big stars in Joe Root and Ben Stokes in consecutive deliveries and now Jamie Smith and Harry Brook has to fight for survival as long as possible. India are halfway in on their way to get a big lead and they will now have time to bowl out England if they get a few things right. 

Out! That is the exact in the morning India wanted and they have got it through Mohammed Siraj. Just in the second over the day, Siraj removed Joe Root as he gets strangled down the leg tickling one to the hands of wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. Next ball captain Ben Stokes departs. The ball rose very sharply from a length and climbed awkwardly which left Stokes in an awkward position. Got a nick and Rishabh Pant collected another easy catch.
