Former Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Lalit Modi’s wife, Minal, passed away on Tuesday early morning. She was 64. Soon after her death, Lalit Modi took to Twitter account to announce the tragic demise of his wife as he shared a couple of heartfelt posts.

The former IPL boss, who is currently in London, wrote in one of his tweets, "My Love My Life My Soulmate. You are finally at Peace and I am sure you will be watching over us. You have been my life and my journey and now I must continue as promised to you in ensuring our children are protected and nurtured and loved and I know you will always be there.”

In another tweet, Modi added, "but my love it will be tough. But you have taught us to be tough. Though Modi did not reveal the cause of Minal’s death, it is believed that she died after battling with cancer for a long time. The couple married way back in October 1991 and was Minal’s second marriage. The couple has two children Ruchir and Aliya Modi.

In 2010, Modi suspended from BCCI after being accused of misconduct and financial irregularities. In 2013, he was banned for life after being found guilty of the charges levelled against him and Since then he is in London.
