Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh Highlights And Cricket Score 1st Match - T20 Summary

End of Over : 17.4 BAN: 148/7

Right! Bangladesh grab the first points in the tri-series. Afghanistan take on Zimbabwe to make their first entry in this series. The timing is the same, 6.30 pm local (1230 GMT) and so is the venue - Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka. Do join us. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!

Victorious Bangladesh skipper, Shakib Al Hasan, is all smiles. Agrees that Bangladesh can take a lot of confidence from this win, especially as the team was going through a lot of tough times. Hopes that Afif and Mosaddek continue their form in the next game. Wants to keep this momentum going as they are facing another difficult opponent in Afghanistan in their next match.

AFIF HOSSAIN HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. On his thought process when his team was 6 down, Afif says that he was only looking to play positive cricket as he got a rare opportunity to feature for his country. Admits that he felt that he was timing the ball really well. On his stand with Mosaddek, Afif says that he received good support from the other Hossain and they enjoyed batting together.

Zimbabwe captain, Hamilton Masakadza, says that Zimbabwe were right in the game taking early wickets but then lost their way. On the partnership between Burl and Mutombodzi, Hamilton praises the duo, especially Burl, getting some runs in the bank for the visiting side.

Earlier in the game, Bangladesh themselves had Zimbabwe at 63/5 but then a whirlwind 81-run stand for the 6th wicket between Burl and Mutombodzi got the visitors to a competitive total. That was so close to being match-winning as well. Stay tuned for the presentation...

Zimbabwe started well with the ball, with Sean Williams and Kyle Jarvis troubling the batsmen. Then Chatara, Burl and Madziva did their bit but all of these started to lose way once the Hossains attacked. Had they hung on to their catches or even been a bit better in the field, who knows, they might have pulled off a win.

With their backs to the wall, Mosaddek and Afif played counter-attacking cricket. Zimbabwe had no answer and sloppiness started to creep into their game. Misfields, dropped catches, poor lines and lengths, everything started going the hosts' way and the two Hossains looked unstoppable in an 82-run stand of just 47 balls. Afif played a blinder and scored a 24-ball fifty, the joint second fastest for Bangladesh in T20Is.

145 was never meant to trouble the hosts but it did. Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar started well, adding 26 in 3 overs but then, the former's wicket changed proceedings. Bangladesh slipped from 26/0 to 60/6 in the span of 40 balls and at that stage, it looked like Zimbabwe had the game in the bag. But no. In came the two Hossains.

Whoa. A thriller. Who saw that coming? Not many. Or did any? Bangladesh were expected to win this contest and they did. But not without huffing and puffing.

17.4 4

Neville Madziva to Mohammad Saifuddin. FOUR! VICTORY! A length ball outside off, the cutter, Saifuddin swings this over mid-wicket for the winning boundary! The moment he hits that shot, he runs towards the dugout in celebration. BANGLADESH WIN BY 3 WICKETS AND 2 BALLS TO SPARE!

Neville Madziva to Afif Hossain. OUT! Caught! Oh wow. Where has this come from? Nowhere. A full toss, outside off, Afif looks to smash it through the off side but finds short extra cover. Tendai Chatara to Afif Hossain. RUN OUT MISSED! May not have mattered but this is schoolboy stuff. Around off, Hossain comes down the track and hits it down the ground. He wants the second as long off is a bit slow to get to the ball but Mosaddek takes off late. The throw comes in to Chatara who is in a good position to remove the bails but he misses the ball and hits the stumps with his hands instead!
