Australia vs England Highlights And Cricket Score 5th Match - ODI Commentary

End of Over : 34.4 AUS: 205/10

Considering that there is an hour to go for the scheduled innings break, England will come out to bat till that time. How much will they score in this period? Can Australia pick up a wicket or two? The second question applies to the whole match looking at the way the English openers have batted in this series...

4 wickets for Moeen Ali - his career-best in ODIs. Does that come as a surprise? Not if you have followed England's bowling and Australia's batting in this series. He and Rashid finish with 12 wickets each - most by an English spinner in a bilateral ODI series. Sam Curran bowled well in his second spell while the others did decently in the limited opportunity they got.

Seemed like the Kangaroos were in for a big total when Finch and Head were going great guns. But then, after Finch got out, the Aussies slipped from 60/0 to 100/5. Alex Carey and D'Arcy Short then gave some hope to the tourists with a 59-run stand but the former's wicket just hastened the collapse. THIS IS THE THIRD SHORTEST INNINGS FOR AUSTRALIA IN ODIS AFTER BATTING FIRST.

208 legal balls - that is all it has taken for England to dismantle Australia. On a very good track for batting, the visitors have just thrown away their wickets, as if not seemingly interested in playing at all. The openers started off in a hurry - then the rest followed them in a hurry - but back to the pavillion.

34.4 W

31.3 W

Adil Rashid to Nathan Lyon. OUT! Stone dead. A short ball, on off, the googly, skids through. Lyon looks to pull but misses and is hit right in front. He starts walking off after the umpire raises his finger but Short asks him to wait and signals for the review. Well, Lyon does not have to wait for long. The Hawk Eye quickly indicates that he is dead in front.

Now Australia take a review. Lyon seems to be plumb in front...

30.1 0

Sam Curran to D'Arcy Short. HOWZZAT? Not out. Full and down the leg side, Short misses his flick and there is a noise as the ball goes through to Buttler. England go up again but this time the umpire shakes his head. Replays indicate no bat, only pad.

End of Over : 30 3 Runs AUS: 187/8
29.6 0

Adil Rashid to Nathan Lyon. NOT OUT! England exhaust their only review. Full and outside off, Lyon looked to go for his favourite shot - the sweep - only to miss. The ball went off his pads to Joe Root at first slip who went up in an appeal. England were supremely confident and seeing that Morgan signalled a 'T'. Now, when the ball passed the bat, the Snickometer seemed to suggest a deviation. Was that the outside edge? Or was that the bat hitting the ground? The third umpire had quite a few to and fros before eventually getting convinced there was no outside edge. He then checked for the customary Ball Tracking and the impact was OUTSIDE OFF.

Caught at slip? No, says Dharmasena. England want it reviewed...

27.6 W

Adil Rashid to Kane Richardson. OUT! Yes, that is the second run out of the game. On middle and leg, Richardson works it wide of short fine leg and sets off for a single. Short does not agree and sends his partner back. Kane could have still got back but he stops for a second, as if in disbelief. Then looks to go back. By that time the throw comes in to Buttler from Moeen who collects it in front of his stumps then whips them from behind. Richardson puts in a dive and it is referred upstairs and the first replay makes it clear, though the third umpire takes a lot of replays to confirm...

Another run out? Seems to be so! Buttler is confident again and it is referred upstairs...

26.3 1

Sam Curran to Kane Richardson. DIRECT HIT WOULD HAVE CAUGHT SHORT SHORT. Outside off, Richardson taps it towards point and the batsmen go for a suicidal single. Jason Roy, fields, takes aim and then has a shy at the striker's end but misses. D'Arcy was nowhere in the frame.

The ball goes towards cover but Liam Plunkett at mid off takes a late start. Probably that goes against him as he does get to the ball, sticks out his left hand but the ball brushes his fingertips and goes down. A couple taken.

End of Over : 25 4 Runs AUS: 163/7
24.6 1

Sam Curran to Kane Richardson. The batsman plays it with an angled bat and guides it to third man. One run added to the total. 4 runs and 2 wickets from the over - Curran's figures now read 3-0-29-2. This is some achievement for Australia considering their batting in this match - they have managed to last the halfway mark with the bat.

24.5 2

24.3 W

Sam Curran to Ashton Agar. OUT! Agar's stumps and Australia - both are in a mess. Total loss of judgement. Curran lands this on a length in line of the stumps and Agar - for reasons known only to him, shoulders arms. Did he expect the ball to go over the sticks? Well, the ball just went straight through and shattered the timber. A 2-ball duck for Agar.

Sam Curran to Ashton Agar. Full and around off, watchfully defended.

Ashton Agar walks in at number 8, replacing Carey.

24.1 W

Sam Curran to Alex Carey. OUT! Maiden ODI wicket for the debutant as he strikes on the very first ball of his second spell! Not the greatest of balls but the youngster will not mind. He lands this on a length outside off, pretty harmless and Carey tries to be cheeky, aiming to run this towards third man. Only manages a thin outside edge which goes straight to Jos Buttler. Another promising innings from an Aussie batsman cut short. The stand was decent too - 59 from 60 balls.

22.6 4

Joe Root to Alex Carey. FOUR! 10 from the last 2 balls! Wide outside off, Carey flays it through the covers and gets a boundary! 14 from that over. 22.5 6

DRINKS BREAK. You know, this series reminds me of my childhood days. I used to watch serials during the week and when I missed any episode, then I used to catch the repeat telecast on a Sunday. In every match of the series, or rather most, Australia have raced off to a start, only to capitulate after that. Today seems no different. 60/0 at one stage and then 100/5. Justin Langer has a lot of work to do...

14.1 W

Moeen Ali to Tim Paine. OUT! It is pain for Paine and Australia! Half the side is back in the hut and we are not even into the first Drinks Break. Around middle and leg, Paine just tucks it to the leg side and the batsmen attempt a quick single. Jos Buttler rushes to the ball, picks it up, is off balance, but still manages to throw it to the bowler's end and voila! Bull's Eye! As they say, when nothing is going for you, NOTHING INDEED IS GOING FOR YOU. Normally, on another day, Buttler would have stumbled, taken extra time, perhaps slipped or maybe, missed the stumps. But what he does instead is hand an unwanted record for Paine - WORST BATTING AVERAGE IN AN ODI SERIES IN ENGLAND BY AN AUSTRALIAN CAPTAIN (MINIMUM 3 INNINGS)!!!

Direct hit! Is it pain for Paine? Referred upstairs...

Moeen Ali to Shaun Marsh. OUT! What a ball, what a piece of stumping! Marsh is outta here! It is not raining in Old Trafford but Australia are amidst old pools of trouble. Moeen tosses this up beautifully outside off and gets Marsh drawn forward. The southpaw lunges to defend but then the ball drifts away, beating the bat. Now, because of that lunge, Shaun's back foot is in the air. Jos Buttler collects and then whips the bails off in a flash! He appeals confidently and when it is taken upstairs, the first replay confirms his ecstasy. Australia so far - Head - 56 and the other three have played like a tail - 22 (Finch), 8 (Marsh) and 0 (Stoinis).

11.5 W

Liam Plunkett to Travis Head. OUT! Another soft dismissal. Commentator's curse. Just a few balls ago, on his half century, we had mentioned that Head had failed to convert his start in the previous game. Today, he is playing with a cool head. Well... he has chipped a length delivery straight into Eoin Morgan's hands at short mid-wicket. Australia rise high... only to sink lower...

11.4 4

9.6 0

Jake Ball to Shaun Marsh. The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot. 79/2 in POWERPLAY 1 for Australia - Pretty decent as has been in most games in this series - it is from here that they have gone into a shell.

9.5 1

Jake Ball to Travis Head. HALF CENTURY FOR HEAD! He threw his start away in Durham but so far, Travis has played with a cool head. Wickets have been falling at the other end but TH has been playing his own game at this end. A length ball around middle, Head waits for the ball to come to him and guides it deftly to third man for a run. 10th half century in this format, third in succession.

9.4 1

Jake Ball to Shaun Marsh. The batsman has flicked the ball off his pads for a single.

End of Over : 9 7 Runs AUS: 72/2
8.6 1

Moeen Ali to Travis Head. Comes down the track and drives it through mid off for a run.

8.5 0

Moeen Ali to Travis Head. Around off, defended watchfully.

Mid off goes back now. Square leg comes inside the circle. Very good captaincy from Morgan, comments Ricky Ponting on air. Punter opines that Morgan knows that Head is good down the ground and with the sweep shot. Hence the field change.

8.4 1

Moeen Ali to Shaun Marsh. The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot. They pick up a single. Gets off the mark.

8.3 1

Moeen Ali to Travis Head. Punches it wide of mid off for a quick single.

8.2 4

Moeen Ali to Travis Head. FOUR! Nicely done. Comes down the track, gets to the pitch of the ball and drives it past the bowler, down the ground and the timing is good enough to beat mid off. Moves to 42 from 29 balls with his seventh boundary.

8.1 0

Moeen Ali to Travis Head. Full and around off, watchfully defended.

End of Over : 8 5 Runs AUS: 65/2
7.6 0

Jake Ball to Shaun Marsh. Around middle and off, defended watchfully.

7.5 1

Jake Ball to Travis Head. LUCKY! The off cutter, on middle and leg, TH is early into his flick and gets a leading edge. Luckily for him, the ball balloons over the bowler and lands in no man's land between mid on and mid off! A single taken.

7.4 0

Jake Ball to Travis Head. A length ball, around middle and leg, Travis waits for the ball to come to him and helps it towards short fine leg.

7.3 0

Jake Ball to Travis Head. Full and outside off, pushed uppishly but the ball does not carry to the man at cover.

7.2 4

Jake Ball to Travis Head. FOUR! PRISTINE! Full and outside off, Head leans into this one and drives it through the covers for a boundary! The stand gets off the mark.

7.1 0

Jake Ball to Travis Head. On middle and off, driven towards cover.

End of Over : 7 2 Runs AUS: 60/2
6.6 0

Moeen Ali to Shaun Marsh. On middle and leg, helped towards short fine leg. 2 singles, 2 dots and 2 wicket-dot balls in that over. Superb start from Moeen.

Shaun Marsh comes in at number 4, replacing Stoinis.

6.5 W

Moeen Ali to Marcus Stoinis. OUT! Straight to the man and Moeen has two in the over! Stoinis has come and Stoinis has gone. And the over is not yet over. A nothing delivery, a nothing shot. The bowler wins, though. Full and around off, Marcus gets down on a knee and looks to sweep it over the man at short fine leg. But all he does is - hit it straight to Jake Ball over there. He is one of the tallest men in the England line-up and perhaps a shorter guy would have missed it. Not Ball, who gobbles the ball. First duck in ODIs for Stoinis!!!

6.4 0

Moeen Ali to Marcus Stoinis. Full and outside off, defended towards mid on.

Oho! Interesting! Marcus Stoinis has been promoted to number 3, replacing Finch.

6.3 W

Moeen Ali to Aaron Finch. OUT! Chops it on! Once again, a start is wasted by an Aussie batsman. A short ball outside off, Finch goes back to pull but the ball stays low, takes the inner half of the bat and uproots the leg stump! A decent start by Finch but then, he could have carried on longer. Throws his wicket away.

6.2 1

Moeen Ali to Travis Head. Comes down the track but is beaten in flight. Somehow, Head manages to get the ball away through the covers for a single.

6.1 1

Moeen Ali to Aaron Finch. A reverse sweep employed straightaway. But it was risky. He was early into the shot, Finch and the ball went off the back of his bat towards short fine leg. There was a muted LBW appeal and rightly, not reviewed. A single taken.

Another change of bowling. Moeen Ali into the attack.

End of Over : 6 6 Runs AUS: 58/0
5.6 1

Jake Ball to Aaron Finch. The batsman works it down the leg side. They pick up a single.

5.5 0

Jake Ball to Aaron Finch. DROPPED? Or short? Need more replays to look at that. Finch tucks this length ball uppishly towards short fine leg where Sam Curran dives but is not able to hold on. Now, one angle seems to show that the ball burst through his fingers while another seems to show that the ball landed in front.

5.4 1

Jake Ball to Travis Head. On middle and leg, tucked behind square leg for a single.

5.3 4

Jake Ball to Travis Head. FOUR! Stand and deliver! Not a bad ball at all. He lands this on a length outside off but Head plays a lovely shot, driving this on the up. This time, the timing is excellent to beat the man at short extra cover. Moves to 31 from 20 balls with his 5th boundary.

5.2 0

Jake Ball to Travis Head. Full and around off, driven straight to short extra cover.

5.1 0

Jake Ball to Travis Head. Full and outside off, driven towards mid off.

Change of ends for Jake Ball.

End of Over : 5 13 Runs AUS: 52/0
4.6 2

Joe Root to Aaron Finch. Fuller and wider outside off, this time Aaron goes hard and skews it off the outer half over cover. Two runs taken. 13 from the over, 24 off the last 2!

4.5 4

Joe Root to Aaron Finch. FOUR! FETCH THAT! Full on middle and leg, Finch backs away to the leg side and clobbers the ball straight back over Root's head, a bounce and into the ropes! Back-to-back 50-stands for the Aussie openers!

4.4 1

Joe Root to Travis Head. Now this is fuller on the pads, flicked towards short fine leg for a quick single.

4.3 4

Joe Root to Travis Head. FOUR! Bad ball. That is because of Head's footwork. On seeing Travis step out on the first two balls, Root drops this short and wide outside off. This time though, the batsman stays in his crease and cuts it behind point for a boundary.

4.2 2

Joe Root to Travis Head. Comes out again and chips this towards long on where Alex Hales makes a good tumbling stop. Two runs taken. The stand is worth 41 from 26 balls.

4.1 0

Joe Root to Travis Head. Tossed up around off, Head is straightaway down the track but is not to the pitch of the ball. Has to defend.

Early change for England. Joe Root to bowl now.

End of Over : 4 11 Runs AUS: 39/0
3.6 0

Sam Curran to Aaron Finch. Full again, driven towards mid off. 11 from the over, Curran has gone for 25 in his 2 overs.

3.5 0

Sam Curran to Aaron Finch. Around off, defended solidly.

3.4 6

Sam Curran to Aaron Finch. SIX! Not cleanly hit but the bat is so solid that the ball will travel. Curran goes fuller and lines this just around off stump. But Finch is in no mood to defend and swings across the line. The ball hits the inner half of the bat, but still travels way over mid-wicket! Finch moves to 14 from 9 balls.

3.3 4

Sam Curran to Aaron Finch. FOUR! Up and over! No need to run for that. A hat-trick of length balls, outside off, angling away and this time, Finch is ready. Comes forward and lofts it over extra cover for a boundary. The stand is worth 33 from 21 balls.

3.2 0

Sam Curran to Aaron Finch. Ooh... nearly chased that. A length ball once more, angling away outside off, Finch pushes but misses.

3.1 1

Sam Curran to Travis Head. A length ball down the leg side, tucked towards fine leg for a single. Head moves to 20 from 13 balls.

End of Over : 3 9 Runs AUS: 28/0
2.6 4

Jake Ball to Aaron Finch. FOUR! Now he gets off the mark and in some style too! Full around off, swinging in, Finch covers the line nicely and works it wide of mid on. The timing is good enough and it will beat the fielder to the fence.

2.5 1

Jake Ball to Travis Head. Full and outside off, driven towards mid off for a quick single.

2.4 4

Jake Ball to Travis Head. FOUR! Easy pickings. Ball strays on the pads and all Head has to do is to go back and whip the ball through square leg for a boundary. Nicely timed. The stand moves to 23 from 16 balls. Finch is yet to score a run.

2.3 0

Jake Ball to Travis Head. On middle once more, blocked from the crease.

2.2 0

Jake Ball to Travis Head. Full on middle, Head drives this straight back. Starts to run on seeing that the ball has not been properly fielded by Ball but then has to go back seeing mid on charge in.

2.1 0

Jake Ball to Travis Head. On a length around leg and middle, defended from the crease.

End of Over : 2 14 Runs AUS: 19/0
1.6 3

Sam Curran to Travis Head. Full on middle, Travis drives it straight down the ground. Moeen Ali dives to his right from mid on but is not able to stop it cleanly. Parries it towards the boundary. However, takes some pace off it and hence mid off is able to get around and slide to parry the ball back to Moeen. Three runs taken. 14 from Sam Curran's opening over.

1.5 4

Sam Curran to Travis Head. FOUR! More wrong line. On the pads, this time Head does not miss out and whips it behind square leg for a boundary. The man at the ropes is in front of square and cannot get there in time.

1.4 2

Sam Curran to Travis Head. On middle and leg, tucked through square leg for a couple.

1.4 wd

Sam Curran to Travis Head. WIDE. Slips this down the leg side, Travis misses his flick. The bowler might consider himself lucky there - fine leg was up.

1.3 0

Sam Curran to Travis Head. Full and around off, stoutly blocked away.

1.2 4

Sam Curran to Travis Head. FOUR! Not a bad ball at all. Plenty of swing, shaping away, a low full toss but Head plays this nicely, driving the ball through cover and point. First boundary of Sunday.

1.1 0

Sam Curran to Travis Head. Around off, defended back to the bowler.

Debutant Sam Curran, 250th player to represent England in ODI cricket, will bowl with the second new ball.

End of Over : 1 5 Runs AUS: 5/0
0.6 0

Jake Ball to Aaron Finch. Around off, angling in, defended back to the bowler.

0.5 1

Jake Ball to Travis Head. One more delivery down the leg side, tucked towards fine leg for a single. Head gets off the mark.

0.4 3

Jake Ball to Aaron Finch. Good stop by Adil Rashid in the deep. Down the leg side, AF misses his tuck and the ball goes off his pads towards fine leg. Rashid gives it a good chase from backward square leg and dives to pull the ball back in. Three runs taken.

0.3 0

Jake Ball to Aaron Finch. More inswing, well bowled and equally well played. Driven towards mid on.

0.2 0

Jake Ball to Aaron Finch. Full and outside off, hint of inswing, Aaron drives it straight back and Ball stops it in his followthrough, albeit not cleanly.

0.1 0

Jake Ball to Aaron Finch. Outside off, this is well inside the guideline, left alone and not wided.

0.1 wd

Jake Ball to Aaron Finch. WIDE. A harsh call from the umpire, one might argue. Full and outside off, in line of the wide guideline, Finch shoulders arms. The umpire stretches his arms and the bowler is surprised. Replays show that the ball just grazed the guideline. Maybe, some leniency could have been shown. Strict umpire.

The players are out in the middle! Travis Head and Aaron Finch are the openers. Jake Ball will bowl with the first new ball to Finch. Here we go...

England team changes - Three for them today. Sam Curran, Jake Ball and Liam Plunkett get an opportunity in place of David Willey, Mark Wood and the injured Craig Overton. SAM CURRAN IS JUST THE SECOND YOUNGEST PLAYER TO MAKE AN ODI DEBUT FOR ENGLAND. Aged 20 years and 21 days, he gets the cap from James Anderson.

Australian team changes - Seems like it was a short stay on the bench and D'Arcy is back in the playing XI. So is Kane Richardson. Out go Jhye Richardson and Michael Neser. Glenn Maxwell still has a sore shoulder by the looks of it and will not play again.

TOSS - Australia have whitewashed England! Congratulations to them!!! Ah... ok... forgot that a cricket match is never won purely on toss (except in certain conditions where rain is involved and it is a knockout game). To cut matters short, Tim Paine has won his 5th toss in a row in this series and once again, AUSTRALIA WILL BAT FIRST.

WEATHER - How is it? Well, nice, bright and sunny. No chances of rain. Plus, the expectations are that of the pitch getting drier as the game progresses, so the captain winning the toss will like to bat first.

An Aussie fan? Don't blame you for thinking - 'Another Sunday wasted...' English fan? You might already be thinking - 'Forget the Aussies.. let us sound a warning to India!' Either ways, people would be more interested in the FIFA World Cup where England play Panama in the first game of the day. But the hosts have a big record to chase in cricket today - They have never whitewashed the Aussies in this format and that is a good dangling carrot. For the visiting side, well, it is nothing more than pride. They were whitewashed by South Africa in late 2016 and they certainly will hope that today is not another of 'those' days. Hello and a warm welcome to the fifth and final ODI between England and Australia at Old Trafford, Manchester.

End of Over : 48.3 ENG: 208/9

So that is it from the final game of the series. Morgan and his teammates now lift the cup, spill champagne everywhere. Happy moments for the home side. The away side on the other hand, did really well in the last game but they still have a lot to improve. Cricketing action though does not end here as you can catch all the action from the second day of the third Test between West Indies and Sri Lanka by switching tabs. Till then, take care and goodbye.

England skipper, Eoin Morgan, says there are massive positives to take from today. Mentions the lower order stood up when the top order failed. Credits the way Buttler played. Further adds he has forced his way back into the Test team and is an important member in the ODI team. Admits it is the first time they failed in this series with the bat as a group and he would not want to repeat that. States that this was a tremendous fight back.

Australian skipper, Tim Paine, says they have been thought a lesson from a world class outfit. Credits the way Jos Buttler played after they had them under pressure. He feels they bowled a touch wide to Rashid and Buttler. At the halfway mark he thought the total was not enough but their bowlers came out and did their job really well. Acknowledges the way Short and Carey played. He reckons Stanlake is a very talented bowler. Ends by thanking the crowd for the support they have provided.

Man of the Match and Man of the Series, Jos Buttler, feels great about his performance today. Further adds they bowled really well but did not quite match it up with the bat. Says they just needed a partnership and Adil Rashid hung in well with him. Ends by saying he was ready to run the twos but not the ones when Jake Ball came out to bat.

England will be over the moon with this series win. They have got a clean sweep over the World Champions and that will bolster them as a unit. It was a gallant performance by their batsmen throughout (barring today) where they completely outclassed the Kangaroos. On the bowling front, there is still scope for improvement though as they can become even more clinical. Their next assignment is against India and that will truly judge their form, ability and quality.

Earlier in the day, a solid opening partnership between Aaron Finch and Travis Head was followed by a complete disintegration of the Aussie batting line-up. One by one the batsmen were sent to the pavilion and the collapse meant that the visitors ended with only 205 on the board. The Aussie bowlers probably bowled their best in this series today but the victory just wasn't meant to be. Jos Buttler stood like a rock in front of them and the 9th wicket partnership killed most of their hopes. Still, a word of praise for Billy Stanlake, he bowled his heart out and looked menacing.

For the visitors, it was a case of so near and yet so far. Defending a paltry total, Billy Stanlake came out all guns blazing and England were soon reduced to 5 for 50. With their backs to the wall and defeat looming large, Jos Buttler took the charge and decided to play as per the situation where he had to curb his natural game. He kept on losing partners at the other end but that didn't deter him a single bit. With the home side tottering on 114/8, Buttler finally found an able ally in Adil Rashid. Together the pair stitched in an 81-run stand to put England in a winning position out of nowhere. It did get close towards the end but Jos kept his cool to first score his century and then steer his team over the line where a sweet whitewash moment was waiting for them.

England have done it. They have registered their first whitewash over Australia in a 5-match bilateral series. The English players are delighted. Jos Buttler cannot hide his smile. Eoin Morgan is on the ground shaking hands with the Australian players. This series has been played in good spirits. Another defeat for Australia, however, they managed to push England this time around.

He has been very sensible with his approach in the run chase, curbing his natural way of batting. 29.4 W

Kane Richardson to Liam Plunkett. OUT! Two-in-two for Richardson. Plunkett comes and Plunkett goes. Another ball which is full and wide outside off. A ball which you can shoulder your arms to. But Liam slashes at it, not a shot you want to play on your first ball. The ball takes the outside edge and goes low towards the right of Paine who dives and takes it. The players appeal and this time the umpire does hear it as he raises his finger. Richardson is now on a hat-trick and the Australians are all pumped up at the moment.

The players make a huge appeal but the umpire shakes his head. Paine signals for the 'T'. They go upstairs and Snicko shows a spike. The on-field call has to be overturned and Australia can sniff it now.

Another review! This time it is for a caught behind. The umpire does not think there is an edge but Paine is very confident. There was also a noise as the ball passed the bat. Curran is the man in question.

Time for the replays. They show that there is no inside edge and Hawk Eye shows it to be clipping the leg pole. Umpire's call stays but the good thing for Australia is they do not lose a review. 17.1 1

...THE CHASE RESUMES...

In spite of doing all the hard work thus far, do not be surprised if England canter through to a win. Why so pessimistic, do you ask? Because the main effort has been put in by the lanky Stanlake. The visitors need to stem in a team performance and not just expect Stanlake to pick up the remaining wickets. England might be 5 down but they are just one good partnership away from a whitewash. Meanwhile, psst psst... Panama have managed to score a goal against England in the FIFA World Cup - ensuring that it will not be a clean sheet for England. Can Australia do the same here in cricket and avoid a whitewash? Join us back at 1515 local (1415 GMT) for the remainder of this run chase...

Often, while defending small totals you need your opening bowlers to fire. Roy did that for Australia, giving Ashton Agar his wicket and then Billy Stanlake broke through that middle order. His fiery spell - 3 wickets in 5 overs, which also included a double-wicket maiden and 21 dots - had the English batsmen hopping. Lyon and Agar were not bad too, keeping the pressure on England. There is not much pressure chasing totals just over 200 in an ODI game, but these days, many batsmen consider 4 dot balls in an over as 'PRESSURE'.

Were England a bit too careless in their approach to 206? Sometimes that does happen. Such targets which can put you in trouble if you play too cautiously. Maybe, the hosts wanted to make a statement and in that process, ended up giving wickets away. Nothing to be taken away from Australia, who, barring Richardson have ensured that they were not caned.

Probably the most entertaining passage of cricket in this entire ODI series. England are tottering at 66/5 and all wickets have been lost in the span of an hour. Of course, 3 have been thrown away but make no mistake, Australia have bowled well.

End of Over : 16 11 Runs ENG: 66/5
15.6 1

Kane Richardson to Jos Buttler. A high full toss to end the 'session'. Buttler pulls it towards long leg and nearly gives a catch to Billy Stanlake over there. Lands just short. A single taken. 11 runs from that over which takes ENGLAND to 66/5, NEEDING ANOTHER 140 RUNS!!!

15.5 4

Kane Richardson to Jos Buttler. FOUR! PLUNDERED! Short and outside off, Buttler crashes it to the point boundary.

15.4 0

15.3 4

Kane Richardson to Jos Buttler. IN THE AIR... JUST WIDE AND FOUR!!! Heart-in-mouth moment for Buttler and England. 14.4 1

Nathan Lyon to Jos Buttler. Outside off, pushed towards cover for a run.

14.3 1

Nathan Lyon to Moeen Ali. RUN OUT CHANCE MISSED! Well, that could have tilted the game in Australia's favour. Moeen ticks it towards mid-wicket and sets off for a risky single. Travis Head charges to the ball from square leg, picks it up and has a shy at the bowler's end, only to miss. Lyon chose not to collect the ball, else Moeen would have been gone. Probably Ali mistook Travis Head's throwing arm. He is a left-hander, Travis and perhaps Mo thought he will not throw well with his 'wrong' hand. The ball meanwhile, has gone towards sweeper cover and Ali wants the overthrow but Buttler has run too far and rejects it.

14.2 0

Nathan Lyon to Moeen Ali. The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.

14.1 0

Nathan Lyon to Moeen Ali. Full on middle, pushed towards mid on.

Nathan Lyon to bowl probably the final over before the break.

13.1 W

Kane Richardson to Alex Hales. OUT! Loose, loose shot with Lunch around the corner! Totally needless from Hales. Yes, a bad ball from Richardson. Short and wide outside off, there to be hit but without any footwork? Naah... Hales just throws his bat at the ball with his feet probably in clay. Only manages a nick behind and Paine does the rest. Hales walks off fuming as England lose half their side...

End of Over : 10 6 Runs ENG: 34/4
9.6 4

Billy Stanlake to Alex Hales. FOUR! A tiring delivery from the tall man. Shot and outside off, Hales crunches it through point and gets a boundary. Not a bad way for England to end what has been Australia's Powerplay - 4 wickets picked, only 34 runs given and only 4 balls reached the fence.

Billy Stanlake to Jos Buttler. Outside off, pushed towards cover.

Jos Buttler comes in at number 6, replacing his captain.

7.4 W

Billy Stanlake to Eoin Morgan. OUT! Timberrrrr! Stanlake is on fire and Australia are trying to make this into a contest. Morgan commits a bit too early into the shot, jumping down the track, then as is his habit, going back to defend. Stanlake fires in a quick delivery, landing it on a length and then skidding it through. The skipper tries to cover his initial juggling foot movement by a back foot defense but is totally done in by pace. The ball goes through before the bat can come down, hits the flap of his right pad and then deflects onto the woodwork.

End of Over : 6 4 Runs ENG: 23/3
5.6 W

Billy Stanlake to Joe Root. OUT! Edged and gone! Boy o boy, Australia have their third. This is a well-deserved and a well-thought out wicket. Root has been having trouble with the short ball outside off and Stanlake produces exactly that. Root looks to push that to the off side but the extra bounce proves to be his downfall. All he manages is an outside edge, straight to Shaun Marsh at first slip. 2 wickets from that over, leaking just 4 runs. Stanlake's figures now read - 3-0-12-2.

Bairstow looks to punch it through the line but is cramped for room and the ball takes the outside edge. However, there is no second slip and the ball races towards third man where D'Arcy Short makes a mess of a simple fielding effort. Question to Paine - With nothing to lose, why isn't the slip cordon packed?

3.1 0

Billy Stanlake to Jonny Bairstow. Short and outside off, Bairstow slashes but misses.

End of Over : 3 5 Runs ENG: 8/1

Ashton Agar to Alex Hales. On middle and leg, watchfully defended.

Alex Hales walks in at number 3, replacing Roy.

0.4 W

Ashton Agar to Jason Roy. OUT! Well, that is yet another wicket which has been thrown away today. Australia threw away 9 out of their 10 wickets and now Jason Roy makes sure England have at least one contribution. Tossed up on middle and off, Roy comes down the track, is nowhere near the pitch of the ball and just swings wildly. Misses and the ball hits the timber.
