India vs West Indies Highlights And Cricket Score 2nd Match - ODI Summary

End of Over : 50.0 WI: 321/7

A thrilling contest finally comes to a close. India might still be leading the series 1-0, but they will know better than to take this tied result even remotely lightly and be wary of the threat the Windies possess. The visitors, will take heart from this and try to do the same next time too. The 3rd ODI takes place in Pune on 27th October, at 1330 local (0800 GMT). Do join in for that. In the meantime, you can switch tabs and catch all the action from the first T20I between Pakistan and Australia. Cheers!

India skipper and Man of the Match, Virat Kohli starts off by saying it was a great game of cricket and adds that the atmosphere was spectacular. Praises Windies for playing the way they did, especially the Hope-Hetmyer partnership. Is pleased with his personal milestones which he achieved through the game. Informs that he had a talk with his teammates and they agreed that they should be ready for any and all kinds of situations and embrace the challenge. Reckons that he thought Windies were in a strong position, but in the last 5-6 overs it was very much in the balance. States there were moments which could have gone either way, but they just have to take everything in their stride and move forward. On Ambati Rayudu, he mentions that they are looking at him as a serious contender for the no.4 spot and he's glad Ambati got some runs under his belt. Applauds Hope and Hetmyer as well and says they are superb talents.

Windies skipper, Jason Holder says it was a good game of cricket. Applauds young players like Hope and Hetmyer for coming so close, but is disappointed they couldn't get over the line. States he expects India to get par scores every time, as they are a good team. Reckons that they wanted to take it deep when he walked in and is pleased to see Hope be there right till the very end. Informs that he's happy with his batting line-up for crossing 300 in consecutive games and mentions there are a lot of positives to take. Rues some sloppiness in the field but says it can be obviously improved. On debutant Obed McCoy, he states he's a young lad and it was good to see him hold his nerve under pressure.

Shai Hope is seen talking to Murali Kartik. He says he is disappointed to not win. Mentions that he tried his best. Admits they lost wickets at crucial stages, especially Jason Holder's wicket. Reckons that the wicket was similar in both the innings and continues saying that it was easy to bat against the new ball and it got difficult as the game progressed. Ends by saying he is unhappy that they could not win.

Hope carried on after Hetmyer's dismissal, kept the scoreboard ticking with Jason Holder and were in the driver's seat. But the skipper's untimely run out did pose questions. It all went right down to the wire, and it took a scintillating boundary from Hope which saw the ending in a tie. Fitting that the centurion hit those last runs. Earlier in the day, India posted 321 on the board on the back of a scintillating Virat Kohli ton and a fluent fifty from Ambati Rayudu. It just wasn't enough to get the win.

A humdinger of a game. Chasing 322 on a tricky surface, the odds would have definitely been stacked in the hosts' favour, but Windies have done a tremendous job with the bat. It's a testament to their batting order that they've crossed 300 on consecutive occasion. The visitors lost a few early wickets but that mammoth 143-run stand between Hope and Hetmyer kept things every much in the balance, if not in Windies' favour throughout the game. The latter missed out on a ton, while the former eventually went on to remain unbeaten on 123.

The crowd in the stadium has gone silent as they still haven't been able to comprehend what's happened here. Mixed emotions in the middle of the park, a few smiles, some heads dropping down. No team's lost, but only cricket's the winner tonight.

49.6 4

Umesh Yadav to Shai Hope. FOUR! THE MATCH IS TIED! Oh wow. You never would have expected such a thing to happen. Dear me. Excellent stuff from Shai Hope. Full and wide outside off, Hope carves this square through point. Rayudu out in the deep moves to his right, dives, gets a hand to it but can't stop it from crossing the rope. Absolute scenes in Vizag.

49.5 2

Umesh Yadav to Shai Hope. Fuller length ball, Hope hits this through mid-wicket and comes back for the second. 5 needed off the final ball. Can Shai Hope do it? Or will Umesh Yadav hold him off?

49.4 W

Umesh Yadav to Ashley Nurse. OUT! Ashley Nurse departs playing an audacious shot. He gets low as this ball comes in full outside off, takes it on the full and reverse scoops it towards third man. Rayudu runs in, settles himself under it and takes the catch.

49.2 4

Umesh Yadav to Ashley Nurse. FOUR LEG BYES! 9 needed off 4 to win. Umesh is unfortunate. He fires it in well on leg, Nurse looks to slog but misses. It goes off his pads and through the right of Dhoni to the third man boundary.

49.1 1

Umesh Yadav to Shai Hope. Superb start to the over from Umesh. Fires in the perfect yorker just outside off, Hope digs it out off the inner half and both batsmen run through to complete the run.

End of Over : 49 6 Runs 50.0: 308/6
48.6 1

Mohammed Shami to Shai Hope. Fires it well wide outside off, Hope mistimes it towards covers and takes off. Shami gets to the ball, turns and misses his shy at his end. Single completed.

48.5 2

Mohammed Shami to Shai Hope. Full and attacking the stumps, lofted over the bowler's head. The batsmen scamper through and come back for the second as long off cuts it out and throws it back in. Good running.

48.4 0

Mohammed Shami to Shai Hope. Dot ball. Precious dot ball for India. Shami darts it full and wide outside off, Hope mistimes the drive back to him. He throws it back at the striker's end seeing Shai out of his crease. No harm done.

48.3 1

Mohammed Shami to Ashley Nurse. Bumper on middle and leg, Nurse backs away and pulls it along the carpet to deep mid-wicket. One more to the total.

48.2 1

Mohammed Shami to Shai Hope. Full in line of the stumps, Hope slogs it towards wide long on. Just the single.

48.1 1

Mohammed Shami to Ashley Nurse. Short of a length close to off, Nurse gets an inside edge onto his pads. It falls on the off side and the batsmen scamper through for a run.

Summary

India thrashed West Indies by 8 wickets in the first ODI of the five-match series and would look to continue their winning momentum as both sides face off with each other in the 2nd ODI at Vizag.

West Indies batting line-up was in good form as Shimron Hetmyer scored a hundred. Devendra Bishoo and Kieran Powell also chipped in with valuable runs as they posted a formidable score of 322 runs. But their bowling attack had no answers to the batting power of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as India chased the score with ease.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both scored big centuries as the west indies bowling did not have any answers. It remains to be seen how does West Indies bowling line-up fares in the second match.
