Pakistan vs England Highlights And Cricket Score 2nd Match - Test Summary

End of Over : 46.0 PAK: 134/10

Trophy shared. Tour ended. Pakistan's stay in Europe ends. How often have you seen no century scored in a Test series? We'll let you find that out. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, goes Newton's third law of motion. England though, have given more than that. After being tamed at Lord's inside four days, they've retaliated in such a way that Pakistan were handed an innings defeat inside three days. Opposite, yes, but equal? Maybe not. Well, our company with you ends with this note. We'll see you soon with some international cricketing action. Meanwhile, you may switch over to the Afghanistan-Bangladesh game if you're feeling T20 deprived. Till the next time, cheers! Ta-ta! Take care!

Now, both Joe Root and Sarfraz Ahmed pose with the trophy on the podium. Sharing is a good habit, as taught in schools. With a win and loss each for both the sides, they may well have to share the silverware. The effect of franchise cricket is seen here as well, as the players from either sides chat with each other. Fakhar Zaman and Jos Buttler were seen having some talk while the two emerging youngsters, Shadab Khan and Dominic Bess, were seen hanging out as well. Perhaps they'll be planning the evening get together, now that the game has ended early.

The England captain, Joe Root, says that they spoke as a group after the loss in the first Test and talked about playing with pride and enjoying. States that they learned pretty quickly and that resulted in this turnaround. Reckons that his two swing bowlers James Anderson and Stuart Broad didn't let them down and were ably backed up by the others. Reasons that the nature of the pitch resulted in no tons being scored in the series. As a result, he credits the ground staff for preparing good wickets. Opines that they still have a long way to go in being consistent and will strive for that. Lauds the youngsters Keaton Jennings and Dominic Bess by saying that they turned up well and grabbed their opportunities. Confesses that they were lacking confidence in the first Test after a tough winter. Seems confident about beating India if they play the brand of cricket they did here.

Sarfraz Ahmed, the Pakistan skipper, asserts that even though batting first was right, the batters let them down. Credits the opposition for bowling well in the first couple of sessions. States that they weren't as disciplined as they were in the first Test. Iterates that dropping catches are a part of the game and would look to improve on that. Reckons that with a young side at hand, it's always a learning curve and the process is in place. Ends saying that he is proud of his side, specially with the way they played right from Malahide.

The Man of the Series award goes to Mohammad Abbas. He is mainly adjudged so as he helped Pakistan win the Lord's Test with his bowling. Wasim Akram joins in as the translator for the youngster. The young seamer begins thanking the Almighty. He says that he feels disappointed to not help his side win the series. Talks about focusing on landing the ball in right areas. Adds that irrespective of the success you get or not, he strives for the same. States that he didn't panic when the opposition batters decided to use their feet but decided to concentrate on his strength. Ends wishing the Pakistan legend a happy birthday.

Jos Buttler is the Man of the Match. He says it's great to be back in the Test side and to contribute to the win. Reckons that the conditions were such that the bowlers were always in the game. Adds that they looked like picking wickets with each delivery. Lauds his side for coming here and turning things around after a tough week at Lord's. He talks about playing as per the situation, when asked if he decided to have fun when Stuart Broad walked out to bat. Statest that it feels good when someone has faith in you and gets you in the Test side and then when such a performance comes out.

They say bat once and bat big in Tests. England set out in that earnest. Alastair Cook and Keaton Jennings strung together a 50-run opening stand, doing so for the first time after 12 innings. Cook, Joe Root and Dominic Bess got into the 40s, but couldn't go beyond that. Then it took a Jos Buttler brilliance for England to stretch their lead to a good hefty 189. The ODI wicketkeeper couldn't find company for him to get to an elusive Test ton. That lead proved a bit too much for Pakistan who ended up capitulating and conceding the game to the hosts. Be here with us to see what the captains have to say...

Earlier in the game, sunny conditions forced Sarfraz Ahmed to win the toss and chose to bat. But like it was playing hide and seek, it went into a hiding. With that for help, England's seamers made merry to keep the tourists quiet and strangled them to a low score. Pakistan could perhaps thank Shadab Khan for dragging their score above 150.

In a wicket-taking fest, Dominic Bess, Sam Curran and Chris Woakes joined the party. The spinner picked up three to go with his effort with the bat and the stunner that he took to get rid of Haris Sohail. There's pretty much nothing to write about Pakistan's show (or no show) in this innings apart from the 42-run stand between Imam ul Haq and Usman Salahuddin.

Talking about redemption, James Anderson and Stuart Broad have bowled themselves back into form and England to victory. What it also does is paint a sad picture that if they fail to strike regularly, the side struggles. The duo began in the right manner in this innings as well. Teasing and beating the outside edge of the blade, they sent back Azhar Ali, Haris Sohail and Asad Shafiq pretty early. That exposed the frail middle order of Pakistan.

What a turnaround it has been for England. Down and out at Lord's, redemption at Headingley. An abject surrender like the one we've just had was just not expected. Well, they say expect the unexpected from Pakistan and that's what it has been. Just three of their batters entered double figures and that says it all.

45.6 W

Stuart Broad to Mohammad Abbas. OUT! That will do! ENGLAND WIN BY AN INNINGS AND 55 RUNS! Broad slants in a back of a length ball on middle, Abbas sticks back inside the crease to fend it off but it takes the shoulder of the bat and flies straight to Root at third slip. The English skipper makes no mistake and the hosts finally taste some success in Test cricket, after 8 matches. Smiles all around, the players are shaking hands and thanking the crowd as well. A neat performance to end the series 1-1.

45.5 0

Stuart Broad to Mohammad Abbas. Late swing and it's so late that it swings after beating the bat of the batsman. Broad angles in a length ball on off, Abbas pushes inside the line and misses.

45.4 1

Stuart Broad to Mohammad Amir. Back of a length ball angling down the leg side, Amir turns it through square leg and picks up a single.

45.3 1

Stuart Broad to Mohammad Abbas. This one is too straight in line and it has been tickled behind square leg for a single.

45.2 0

Stuart Broad to Mohammad Abbas. Alters his length and goes short. Bangs it in around off and Abbas sits underneath it.

45.1 0

Stuart Broad to Mohammad Abbas. Fuller and on off, Abbas covers the line and blocks it back.

End of Over : 45 8 Runs 46.0: 132/9
44.6 4

Dominic Bess to Mohammad Amir. Four byes! That one probably hit the footholes. It spins big after landing around off, beats the swinging bat of Amir and goes past the keeper and first slip. Anderson attempted to catch it by stretching his right hand but fails. Bonus runs but that's only going to narrow down the defeat margin.

44.5 0

Dominic Bess to Mohammad Amir. Quicker and flatter on off, cracked off the back foot but straight to point.

44.4 0

Dominic Bess to Mohammad Amir. Beaten! Amir aims for another slog sweep but this time the ball spins away after landing on off and beats the outside edge of the bat.

44.3 4

Dominic Bess to Mohammad Amir. FOUR! A flighted ball landing just outside leg, Amir clears his front leg and heaves it over mid-wicket for a boundary.

44.2 0

Dominic Bess to Mohammad Amir. Pitches it full and around off, Amir drives it down to mid off.

44.1 0

Dominic Bess to Mohammad Amir. Shortish and close to the off stump line, Amir cuts it to cover-point.
