Often sides become complacent when their top order fires collectively, so much, that the middle order fails to turn up. Delhi became disciplined towards the end, believing that they can stop the high-flying Men in Blue. Their belief turned into reality as the likes of Mohammed Shami, Trent Boult and Dan Christian choked the runflow then. The last of the trio was almost on a hat-trick as well.
Generally sides double their score at the 10-over mark. Mumbai seemed poised to do the same when they were 107/1 at that stage. But Rahul Tewatia and Glenn Maxwell ran through some economical overs after the Powerplay to slow the proceedings for the hosts. The leg spinner was impressive as he spun a web nicely. But his last over, where he conceded 19 runs opened the floodgates and the home team threatened to fly away with the game.
So! One innings done and Mumbai are pretty much in driver's seat at the moment. Maybe Delhi would be happy to have pulled things back towards the end and restricted them to a sub-200 score. It all started in a hunky dory manner for the hosts. They sprung a surprise when Suryakumar Yadav was promoted to open the batting along with Evin Lewis. The duo smashed their way to a quick 102-run stand, scoring 84 in the first 6 overs. In the process, they also brought up Mumbai's fastest fifty in the League. The former got his 2nd fifty in the tournament.
Suryakumar Yadav is now the leading run-scorer in this tourney. He is caught up for a quick word. He says that this is the first time he is leading the run charts and would do everything to score more. About his promotion, he says that the team management asked him about his willingness to open the batting and he readily agreed as he knows the conditions well. Ends stating that picking up wickets early will be the key.

In a run chase, it is important to start well and be abreast with the required run rate. Delhi did just that. They had the partnerships going even though only one batter really batted through. Gautam Gambhir stuttered and struggled his way in the middle in his stay. After he threw his wicket away, Rishabh Pant played some scintillating strokes to keep his side in the hunt.
