Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe Highlights And Cricket Score 1st Match - ODI Summary

End of Over : 50.0 ZIM: 243/9

That is it from us for this game then! Comfortable win for Bangladesh. Will it be the same come the second ODI? We move to Chittagong. Sorry, the new name is Chottagram. More spin will be evident there. The match is scheduled on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 2 pm local (0800 GMT). Do join us for that. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!

IMRUL KAYES HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. Thanks the almighty for the big knock today. On his approach, he says that the wicket was not easy to bat on and he thought of staying till the end. Admits that with wickets falling around him, he was feeling the pressure but then was even more determined to bat deep.

Winning Bangladesh captain, Mashrafe Mortaza manages a smile but is NOT entire happy with his side. Points out the early loss of wickets, then the collapse in the middle but then praises Saifuddin and Kayes for batting sensibly and professionally. Feels that the bowling was 'alright'. On being asked about not going for the kill when Zimbabwe were in dire straits, Mashrafe says that the batsmen were batting well and he wanted to try out some new bowlers. Also, stresses that Mustafizur had a slight niggle, hence he did not want to put stress on him.

Zimbabwe skipper, Hamilton Masakadza says that his team needed just a couple of things to go its way and points at that Ervine catch not being given. Praises Jarvis for coming back well after that early niggle. Is very happy that he put his hand up with the bat too. On the game summary, he says that the team won some blocks of 10 overs but the other blocks were so bad that they lost the plot completely. On the track, he is surprised to see it being so dry and reckons that batting was very difficult.

Okay... time now for the presentation. Not too many candidates for the Man Of The Match one would suppose...

Mehidy Hasan is having a chat with Athar Ali Khan. Says that he always likes to bowl with the new ball and hence opened the bowling. Admits that the first spell was not his best because he was not able to adjust his length but is happy that he managed to come back well. On the challenge of bowling in Powerplay 1, Mehidy says that the pitch was turning and he was confident he could get the batsmen out trying to play their shots. Is very happy with his return catch and also his 3-fer. Agrees that Bangladesh are very confident and will look to win the second ODI as well.

Decent bowling from Bangladesh. Captain Mortaza had an off day but his unit was superb. Mehidy Hasan set the tone early, running through the middle order, eventually ending with 3 scalps while Mustafizur took the all-important wicket of Zhuwao, which triggered the collapse. Nazmul Islam was incisive and accurate, which piled on the pressure.

Coming to the run chase, it was another disappointing show from the Zimbabweans. Cephas Zhuwao showed a lot of promise against the new balls but then once he got out, the rest simply could not even rotate the strike. The likes of Moor, Williams and Ervine actually tried to bat deep and then hit big towards the end but the last part never came.

Let us revisit that catch taken by Craig Ervine at first slip of Saifuddin. Over number 31, ball number 4. Bangladesh were amidst a collapse, at 141/6. Saifuddin had not even open his account. Had that been given, well, you never know...

Well, the result might seem like a close encounter, but in reality, it was not. It was done and dusted around the halfway mark itself and the stubbornness from the Zimbabwe lower order batsmen to not throw their wickets away got it close. On the flip side, there were a few turning points which might have seen Zimbabwe on the winning side tonight.

49.6 1

Mohammad Saifuddin to Sean Williams. Half century for Williams on the final ball. A slower ball outside off, short in length, Williams mistimes his pull but it is good enough to go past the bowler towards long on. A single taken and that ends the match. BANGLADESH WIN BY 28 RUNS!

49.5 1

Mohammad Saifuddin to Tendai Chatara. Nearly... outside off, Chatara pushes at it and gets a thick inside edge which just misses the stumps enroute fine leg! A run taken to get Williams back on strike for the final ball.

49.4 1

Mohammad Saifuddin to Sean Williams. On middle and leg, flicked away for a single.

49.3 2

Mohammad Saifuddin to Sean Williams. On middle, Williams heaves it towards mid-wicket and races back for a couple. He is racing against time. 3 balls left, 2 needed for a half century.

49.2 1

Mohammad Saifuddin to Tendai Chatara. Around off, Chatara looks to defend but gets a thick inside edge onto his pads. It rolls to the leg side and the batsmen take a run.

49.1 1

Mohammad Saifuddin to Sean Williams. A full toss, hit through mid-wicket for a single.

End of Over : 49 13 Runs 50.0: 236/9
48.6 0

Mahmudullah to Tendai Chatara. The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.

48.5 0

Mahmudullah to Tendai Chatara. Full and around off, watchfully defended.

48.4 W

Mahmudullah to Kyle Jarvis. OUT! Have to visit the doctor tomorrow. That was a massive edge, as per the Snickometer. Outside off, Jarvis swings hard, attempting for a hat-trick of sixes but misses. Rahim collects but then appeals belatedly. The umpire gives it out immediately. Jarvis has a chat with Williams and then goes for the review. Well, surprise, surprise everyone. Massive spike. Nice partnership, not of much worth tonight, but Zimbabwe will hope it helps them in future.

48.3 6

Mahmudullah to Kyle Jarvis. SIX MORE! Similar ball, once again Jarvis attempts the slog, mistimes it but has enough on it to clear long on again!

48.2 6

Mahmudullah to Kyle Jarvis. SIX! CLUBBED! Tossed up outside off, Jarvis gets underneath this and sends it sailing over long on! Moves to 31 from 31 balls and the stand is worth 61 from 51.

48.1 1

Mahmudullah to Sean Williams. Full and outside off, reverse swept towards short third man for a single.
