The crowd is going ga-ga over Rahim but I guess the game changed in the second session yesterday when Bangladesh hammered 151 runs in 32 overs. Since then, Zimbabwe have looked deflated and what followed next only rubbed salt on their wounds. Add to it, they became a bowler short when Tendai Chatara got injured this morning.

Very good session for Bangladesh. They did not lose a wicket at all in this session. Rahim and Mahmudullah did dig deep and managed to absorb the pressure the Zimbabwe bowlers were creating with the new ball. Coming to the visitors, they did bowl well, but could not get any scalps. Their main worry would be the injury to Tendai Chatara who pulled his muscle while bowling and was stretchered off the field. One good thing for Zimbabwe was that they did not concede too many runs with the run rate being just above 2. Will we see some quick scoring after Lunch? Feels that 450-500 would be a good score on this track and batting only once would be their aim.

Ed Rainsford is having a chat with Regis Chakabva. Regis says that they had a great first session yesterday but admits that they lost the plot in the second. Credits Mominul and Rahim for applying themselves well in the second session against all the pressure, but reckons that Zimbabwe pulled things back in the final session. On his own cricketing experience, Chakabva says that he has been spending time in the UK, improving his skills. On the keeping, he says that it is a tough place to come and keep but feels that he did a decent job yesterday. On the surface, he says that in the first session, the track spun a bit but in the second, the turn just disappeared. Wants to take it session by session and see how it goes.

PITCH REPORT - Tino Mawoyo observes that conditions are ideal for playing cricket today. Sees a couple of degradations from yesterday where a few areas have dried up and have been opened up by the bowlers' footmarks. So there will be turn on offer and spin will play a part later on in the game.

WEATHER REPORT - Bright and sunny conditions to play cricket. Given that winter is setting in, these could be wonderful conditions to play the sport.

After a good day of Test cricket on Day 1, we look forward to Day 2 where both teams would like to get a firm grip of the match. We saw some good cricket from both sides. Earlier in the day, the new cherry did swing and Zimbabwe's new-ball bowlers made full use of it taking three wickets in no time. Then came a mammoth partnership of 266 runs between Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim which completely changed the dynamics of the game. Both of them scored freely getting hundreds each. Zimbabwe did manage to pull back by taking couple of wickets towards the end though. The home team would be hoping that their experienced players - Rahim and Mahmudullah, dig deep today and get to a score of around 400 which will be useful on this wicket. On the other hand, Zimbabwe will be looking to wrap up the tail as soon as possible.

Zimbabwe were brilliant in the first session but their bowling fell completely flat in the afternoon. They were attacked by the pair of Mominul and Rahim which resulted in the flow of runs at a quick rate. In total 151 runs came from the second session as Bangladesh made a resounding comeback. The tourists though were a lot better in the evening, bowling tidy lines and restricting the run-flow. After toiling hard, they finally managed to remove Mominul Haque soon after taking the second new cherry. The Zimbabwe pacers were very impressive, especially Kyle Jarvis but their spinners failed to leave any impact.

End of an absorbing day of Test cricket! Bangladesh found themselves in an early spot of bother in the morning after losing three quick wickets but then the marathon 266-run partnership between Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim bailed them out. The former was dropped a couple of times and he made Zimbabwe pay heavily. Mominul went on to stroke a big century and along with Rahim, they put all the pressure on Zimbabwe.

He seems to have missed it but as soon as Chakabva collects the ball, Kyle goes up in a big appeal. Not much support from behind and we also thought that there was nothing. Mominul Hasan was the star of the session as he stroked a fluent century. However, he was given one life post Lunch as well when the wicket-keeper dropped his catch. All in all, he has been dropped twice in this innings and he is making the visitors pay dearly. Mushfiqur Rahim's experienced head has also played a part in this 181-run record partnership and he himself is heading towards a century. What a contrasting session! Zimbabwe dominated in the morning by snaffling three wickets by giving away just 56 runs and Bangladesh bounced back in the afternoon to score 151 runs for the loss of zero wickets. Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim counter-attacked and with the pitch flattening out, there was no resistance for the Zimbabwean bowlers. They were also the culprits of bowling all over the place which resulted in runs coming thick and fast.

The repair work is on from Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque. They have survived the initial phase but on a pitch like this, one can never relax. It still is offering good support to the bowlers and Zimbabwe will be eager to take more quick wickets after the break. Zimbabwe's session! They lost the toss and that came as a blessing in disguise for them. The pitch offered a lot of assistance to their fast bowlers and they capitalized. Kyle Jarvis was outstanding in his spell as he picked up the wickets of both the openers and then Donald Tiripano hunted down the debutant, Mohammad Mithun. Had Mominul Haque not dropped by Brian Chari, it would have been an even better session for the visitors.

Welcome, folks! Zimbabwe did the unthinkable in Sylhet by outclassing Bangladesh in the first Test match to take a series lead. They will be delighted after registering their first win in this format in five years. Now, they have a golden chance to win an away Test series which will be quite a rare feat for the African minnows. Can they do it? Well, only time will tell. Time now for a chat with Bangladesh's coach Sunil Joshi. Feels that coaching Bangladesh is not about what the coaching manual says but what Bangladesh need. Adds that Test cricket is a matter of patience and the hosts will have to be patient to win the game. On Taijul Islam, Joshi is proud of the way he has been working 18 months on bowling in consistent areas and admires his mindset. On warming up for the game, Sunil says that there are a different set of routines to do those, as opposed to a limited overs game and reckons that Taijul has been doing that well.

Brendan Taylor is having a chat with Tino Mawoyo. Says that he enjoyed the challenge and feels it is a nice feeling to have got the century but admits that there is a log of work to do. Does not want to compare himself with Andy Flower, adding that he has a lot of cricket to play to even think of reaching that level. Just wants to take it game by game for now. On the conditions, Brendan feels that for the first half of yesterday, they were pretty fine and it was more of Bangladesh's incisive bowling which made run-scoring difficult. Admits that Sikandar Raza missed out on the first innings but is pretty sure that he will bounce back. Agrees that he is disappointed with the shot he played to get out (himself).

PITCH REPORT - Tino Mawoyo doing the pitch report observes that there is some degradation on the surface, though there is some covering of grass. But it will be just a matter of time before they open up. Batting will only get difficult.

Looking forward to the day, this is Day 4 and the day where pitches in the subcontinent really open up and help spinners wreck havoc. Batting won't be easy and don't think we will see pace bowlers bowling a lot of overs today. Taijul, Mehidy or Mavuta, Williams and Raza might be seen doing the bulk of the bowling depending on Bangladesh's decision.

But just when it looked like Zimbabwe would manage to remove the option for the hosts to enforce the follow-on, they lost wickets in a flurry towards the end of the day. Considering Bangladesh are trailing in the series and have to win to ensure parity, they might just be looking at asking Zimbabwe to bat again. But on the other hand, their bowlers have been on the field for the entirety of a day and might be a bit jaded. Also, they have the Windies series coming up in a week. So all these thoughts must have kept Mahmudullah and Co. pondering over what to do.

Hello and Welcome to Day 4 of the second Test between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in Mirpur. The past 3 days have seen the conclusion of the first innings of both teams. Bangladesh batted deep into Day 2 and hoped they would have to bat only once in this match. They still might do it but the chances of that look slimmer than they did post their first innings. Zimbabwe started Day 3 at 25/1 after managing to escape the 18 overs on the Day 2 evening without much damage. They lost early wickets in the first session and the first half of the second session but then had a big partnership that rescued them.

Earlier, the tourists entered Day 3 on the back foot and were further pegged back as their top and middle order failed to contribute. They were reeling at 131-5 at one stage but a century stand between Taylor and Moor revived hopes of a comeback and avoiding the follow-on. But a flurry of wickets towards the end saw Bangladesh finishing Day 3 in firm control of this Test match.

Zimbabwe continued their fightback in the last session with Moor and Taylor adding a brilliant 139-run stand. Both looked set to score big but Bangladesh struck through Ariful Haque, a part-timer. He got rid of Moor and then the wickets just kept falling. Mehidy got two in one over, which included the prized wicket of Brendan Taylor. Taijul Islam finished things off in the end and bagged a fifer.

Right then, after all the hard work, Bangladesh have managed to shot out Zimbabwe's first innings. Now, it will be interesting to see if they enforce the follow-on. They have never done so in the past but they might just do it here. The hosts have a lead of 218 runs and batting again will take more time out of the game. Keeping in mind that they are trailing in the series, this is surely going to be a tough decision as they bowled 105.3 overs and their bowlers will be tired. Mahmudullah has a full night to think about it.

Moor fails to adjust to the swing as he tries to work it on the leg side. Misses completely and it hits his front pad. It goes to the keeper who takes it and appeals. The Bangladesh players are appealing for both, an LBW and a caught behind. The umpire though raises his finger, which we think is for Leg Before Wicket. Moor though reviews it. A tremendous effort is what will be needed from the pair if Zimbabwe are to make a comeback in this game. Bangladesh, on the other hand, need their other bowlers to chip in with the wickets. Maybe, he could have been a little forward there. Now though it is too late. Islam pitches this around middle, Raza plays for the original trajectory but the ball straightens a touch, beats the outside edge and hits the stumps. Half the side is back in the hut for Zimbabwe as Raza walks back for a duck. They need another 192 to avoid the follow-on. Looks an uphill task from here. Talking about Taijul and his brilliance with this delivery. He got Sean with a straighter arm ball and this time since he bowled it from wide of the crease, Raza was outsmarted as he thought it will once again skid in with the angle. That wasn't the case and his footwork was also quite ordinary. What a series Taijul is having!
