Zimbabwe vs South Africa Highlights And Cricket Score 3rd Match - ODI Commentary

End of Over : 49.3 ZIM: 228/10

The pitch has played superbly so far. It has looked a good one for stroke making and South Africa will back themselves to overhaul this below-par target. Having said that, their batting has been quite disappointing in this series. However, with Faf du Plessis returning in the mix, things would be different. The hosts were yearning for some batting practice and today they have enough runs to test themselves. Let's see how they fare in the run chase. Do join us in a short while.

Sean Williams feels it is a good surface. Stresses that if the batsmen play themselves in, they get a chance to score big. On the improved batting performance today, Sean says that the message in the dressing room was to come out of a shell and express oneself. Admits that throughout the series, the top 6 were not contributing and they aimed that today. Adds that they targeted Shamsi, not giving any wicket in his first few overs and it worked for them. Is not too confident about 228 being a decent total but feels if they can pick up some early wickets, they have a chance.

For the visiting side, Sean Williams was the best batsman on show and he looked at ease against the South African bowling. He was particularly severe on Tabraiz Shamsi as he smashed him with a strike rate well in excess of 125. His departure was a big blow for the Zimbabweans. He is giving an interview to Shaun Pollock, let's see what he has to say...

Just when Zimbabwe started to recover from the early loss of wickets, Imran Tahir's beautiful leggie got Taylor stumped. Post that, the wickets continued to tumble, although runs also kept coming. Towards the end, Donald Tiripano was involved in handy stands with the lower order, courtesy which Zimbabwe managed to cross the 200-run mark. Dale Steyn and Kagiso Rabada bowled superbly to pick 3 wickets apiece while Imran Tahir was also impressive. Andile Phehlukwayo bounced back well in his second spell after going for aplenty in his first but Tabraiz Shamsi looked completely off-colour and got his worst bowling spell in ODIs.

A much-improved batting show by Zimbabwe today. However, it didn't start in a good manner. Dale Steyn was in excellent rhythm at the beginning and along with Imran Tahir (first time sharing the new ball), he pegged the visiting side back early. They were reeling on 44/3 at one stage but then the 73-run partnership between Brendan Taylor and Sean Williams bailed them out. The pair batted with good control and mixed caution with aggression in its approach.

49.3 W

Dale Steyn to Donald Tiripano. OUT! Third wicket for Steyn as well! Steyn digs in a shorter length ball outside off at 138 kph, Tiripano hangs back and once again tries to power it over the off side. Imran Tahir to Brendan Taylor. OUT! Dear me, Taylor's back foot is in the air when the stumps are disturbed. A bit unfortunate for Brendan but credit to the bowler for deceiving him with the turn. Also, Klaasen was Dhoni-quick there. Beautifully bowled leg spinner by Tahir. He lands it full and in line of the stumps, Taylor leans forward to defend it with a straight bat but is beaten by the away spin. He loses his balance a bit in the process as Klaasen breaks the stumps. They appeal and the square leg umpire refers it upstairs. The South African players didn't show much excitement but after watching the replays on the giantscreen, they are now celebrating. Superb delivery and equally great glovework to break the 73-run stand.

Stumping appeal! It has been referred upstairs. Not much excitement shown by the Protean players. Let's wait for the replays.

Hello and welcome to the third and final ODI of the series between South Africa and Zimbabwe. A dead rubber as the hosts have already taken an unassailable lead. A whitewash is what they will be looking for. The visitors on the other hand, will look to salvage some pride with a win here today. The series till now has been dominated by the bowlers as the wickets have not been too conducive for batting. Will we see a similar wicket today? Well, we will have to wait to find out. Stay tuned for further updates.

End of Over : 45.5 SA: 231/6

A good game for both teams, in their own respect. South Africa's batting order managed to do well, while Zimbabwe put in an improved performance on the whole. The problem for both remains the same - the batting. It's something they would like to work on before the T20I series starts. The first game begins on 9th October, at 1800 local (1600 GMT). We hope you join in for that. Cheers!

South Africa skipper, Faf du Plessis, says the bowling was really good throughout but the batting was not up to the mark before today. Adds further that the guys are looking good and it is a good sign. States they are always looking ahead and they hope to give everybody a fair run. Mentions that the next tour to Australia is what everybody is looking forward to now. Reckons the last two or three series were very good but by the end of the Australian tour they will have an idea of where they stand.

Man of the Series, Imran Tahir, says he is very pleased with the way he is bowling. Adds further he is trying to improve his game even more and he tries to bowl as he wants to. He feels, since he has been playing regularly he has been able to perform consistently. Mentions it is always good to know what the plans of the selectors are but it is also good if the youngsters get an opportunity. States he is always ready and wants to give his 100 percent whenever he is picked. Ends by saying the 6-fer was the highlight as he did not know he had taken a hat-trick.

Man of the Match, Heinrich Klaasen, says the team played very well. He is enjoying his batting position and thanks Mark Boucher for it. Reckons the wicket was a fantastic one and it has always been fantastic here. Ends by saying he would have liked to be a little more clinical behind the stumps but he enjoyed his work.

Zimbabwe skipper, Hamilton Masakadza, says they weren't good enough in all the three games and there is a lot of room for improvement. Feels they got quite a few starts but they were a few runs short. Adds further that another 50 or 60 runs would have been useful. Credits the way the bowlers bowled. Ends by saying he is looking forward for the T20I series in which they feel they are a better outfit.

In response, on this excellent batting surface, the Proteas' openers got their side off to a positive start which set the tone for the chase. Hendricks and Klaasen got fifties each and that more or less sealed the deal. Admittedly, there were a few hiccups towards the end as the hosts lost some quick wickets, which was largely down to good bowling from Zimbabwe, but never were they in any danger of any sort. They got a good run chase in, so they will be quite happy with that. Stay tuned, as the presentation will be coming up in a short while.

A series whitewash for the Proteas as they win all the three games of the 3-match series. Initially, they got the job done with the ball as they restricted Zimbabwe to 228. Barring Shamsi (who went for plenty of runs) and Duminy, all contributed to the wickets column and broke the back of the Zimbabwean batting order. The Taylor-Williams partnership worth 73 was the only one of any substance, as the rest crumbled, thereby only managing a below par score.
