Speaking at the press conference on the eve of the India vs New Zealand match in the semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, India cricket team captain Virat Kohli expressed surprise and awe on meeting Kane Williamson once again in the semi-finals of a world cup game. Interestingly, it was Kohli who had dismissed Kane Williamson in the India vs New Zealand semi-final clash in the U-19 World Cup in Malaysia more than a decade ago. However, the skipper ruled out the possibility of that happening again as he quipped, “I got Kane’s wicket, really??? I don’t think this will happen again.”

The official Twitter handle of the Cricket World Cup also shared a tweet with the throwback pics of both players from the 2008 tournament.

Kohli said that he will remind Kane Williamson about the match that took place 11 years ago. Kohli also said that, “A lot of players from that World Cup from our batch, from their batch, from other teams as well, made it to their national teams and are still playing. I think it is a really nice memory. Neither me nor him could have ever anticipated that one day this will happen.”

The Virat Kohli led India cricket team take on Kane Williamson's New Zealand in the first semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 at Manchester, Old Trafford. The India vs New Zealand match in the league stage had to be called off due to rain. However, India will be wary of the Black Caps, as the Kiwis had beaten India in the warm-up match of the world cup.
