England might have lost their first T20 game against India last night at Manchester by 8 wickets, but the cricketers rejoiced as the Harry Kane led Three Lions reached the top 8 of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. England won against Columbia by 4-3 on penalties and thus qualified for the quarter-finals of the World Cup for the first time since 2006. The team was obviously keeping a track of all the match proceedings and the moment Three Lions won the match, they jumped with joy.
England’s Jos Buttler shared a video as the team watched the match in the dressing room yesterday. The moment England’s Eric Dier’s scored a goal, the players rejoiced the victory. The video was captioned, “#InEricDierWeTrust#itscominghome @england.”
Captain Harry Kane was Man of the Match and addressed the press post winning the match. He said, “I’m so proud. We were so unlucky to concede in the last minute. It shows our togetherness and character. These are the moments when you really see it. It’s a big night for everyone. Obviously we knew that England's history with penalties hasn't been great. It was nice to get that one off our back.”
Kane further said, “It gives us huge belief. We’ve ticked one of the boxes so far. There's still a long way to go. This will give us more belief than ever and give the fans back at home more belief than ever and we’re just looking forward to the next one.” England will now face Sweden in the quarter-finals.
