India and Pakistan are not part of the ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup. The rivalry between the neighbours has often illuminated sports be it cricket, hockey, Kabaddi or even football. However, both the teams have never featured in the football world cup. Meanwhile, interesting visuals came across television sets when during Uruguay vs France quarterfinal match of the football World Cup at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium Indian and Pakistani flags were spotted next to each other. Perhaps sending a strong message of much-required  peace between the neighbours.

Football fans in India and Pakistan were quick to spot the flags and within no time took to social media sites to inform others. Reactions started to pour in immediately and fans from both the sides of the border were happy to notice the flags being put side-by-side.

Meanwhile, France took a 1-0 lead in the 40th minute when Raphael Varane scored after reviving a cross from Antoine Griezmann. France maintained the lead while going into the break. In the 61st minute, Griezmann helped France double their lead and dented Uruguay’s chances further.

Both France and Uruguay have been in good form ahead of this crucial quarterfinal match. Uruguay have not lost or drawn a match yet at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. La Celeste won their all three group stage matches and then in pre-quarters defeated Portugal 2-1 to advance to the quarterfinal. France, on the other hand, besides a draw against Denmark won all their remaining matches, including a fascinating 4-3 win over Argentina that helped them book a place in the last eight.
