Sachin Tendulkar Pays Tribute to Late Madhav Apte With a Heartfelt Post on Twitter, Calls the Former Indian Cricketer His Well-Wisher

Sachin Tendulkar on Monday paid tributes to late former Indian cricketer Madhav Apte, who passed away at the age of 86. The Master Blaster took to Twitter to share a photo of himself with the former Mumbai cricketer, along with a heart-warming message. Tendulkar also recalled his meetings with the former right-handed batsman.

Calling Madhav Apte a well-wisher, Sachin wrote on Twitter, “Still remember the time when he & Dungarpur Sir let me play for the CCI as a 15-year old. He always supported me & was a well wisher. May his Soul Rest In Peace”. Batting great Tendulkar also revealed that he got to play against him when he was 14-year-old. “Have fond memories of Madhav Apte Sir. I got to play against him at Shivaji Park when I was 14”, the 46-year-old Indian legend added. Apte, who was going to turn 87 soon, died at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on September 22 (Sunday). He played for India from 1952 to 1953, featuring in 7 Test scoring 542 runs. He also smashed 1 century and 3 half-centuries in his international career. He also played 67 first-class matches, in which he scored 3,336 runs. He hit 6 centuries and 16 half-centuries in his first-class career.

Apte was born in Bombay in 1932 and started his cricket career as a leg spinner first. He studied at Elphinstone College of Mumbai and did coaching under late former Indian cricketer Vinoo Mankad. In 1989, he was elected as the president of the Cricket Club of India. He also served as the chief of Legend's Club.
