Shahbaz Nadeem Dismisses Lungi Ngidi in Bizarre Caught and Bowled Incident to Complete India’s 3–0 Clean Sweep Over South Africa in Test Series (Watch Video)

India thrashed South Africa by an innings and 202 runs in the 3rd Test within four days to complete a record-breaking first-ever clean sweep over the Proteas in Test cricket. India, who resumed Day 4 of the Ranchi Test just two wickets short of scripting a second successive victory by an innings or more, needed just two overs to secure the win. Shahbaz Nadeem took the final two wickets to bundle South Africa for 133 but it was his final wicket – a caught and bowled attempt – of Lungi Ngidi that made the headlines. Ngidi's dismissal was quite bizarre in the way it happened especially after the tail-ender had absolutely battered the ball only to find himself offering a simple catch back to the bowler, Nadeem. India Vs South Africa, Highlights And Cricket Score 3rd Test Match.

The incident occurred in the final over – and the final delivery – of the game. South Africa, who resumed Day 4 of the 3rd India vs South Africa Test match at 132/8, were already a wicket down just 1.5 over into the fourth day of the 3rd Test match. Nadeem had removed concussion substitute, Theunis de Bruyn, to leave India with just one wicket short of handing South Africa their biggest defeat since 1935. The last batting pair of Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortje failed to survive another ball with Ngidi getting out under bizarre circumstances in the very next delivery. Most Runs in India vs South Africa Test Series 2019: Rohit Sharma Tops List of Batsmen.

Bizarre Caught And Bowled Incident

Nadeem bowled a full delivery on Ngidi’s pads, which the fast bowler smashed hard straight towards the non-striker’s end where his batting pair Nortje stood. Such was the speed of Ngidi’s powerful dab that Nortje had little time to move away and the ball hit him straight on his shoulders before safely landing under Nadeem’s palms. It was extremely dramatic, leaving Ngidi confused even as Nortje moved away screaming in pain. India sealed the victory by an innings and 202 runs in the process also completing a Test series whitewash over South Africa.
