Miss World 2025: Video Shows Indian Women Washing Contestants’ Feet During Temple Event in Telangana, BRS and BJP Slam Congress

A video showing some Indian women helping wash the feet of Miss World 2025 contestants in Telangana has sparked a major political row. In the video, some women were seen pouring water on the feet of the foreign contestants, who were seated in a row, to wash their feet. The opposition BRS termed the incident "appalling" and said Dalit, tribal and economically disadvantaged women were “forced to wash and wipe” the feet of foreign contestants. The BJP also lashed out at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the Congress party. Responding to criticism, Telangana government's fact-checking unit posted on X: "This is a tradition we follow in accordance with the dictum ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ by which we offer our international guests the highest honour".
