Malkangiri (Odisha), Dec 8 (PTI) Vigilance sleuths in Odisha on Saturday arrested an assistant audit officer in the ST and SC Development Department on charge of illegally collecting cash during audit.

The officer was intercepted near a petrol pump at Jeypore in Koraput district.

"During a search, he was found in possession of cash of Rs 7,29,000, which he could not satisfactorily account for," a vigilance official said.

A case has been registered against him for criminal misconduct and possession of unaccounted for cash.
