Mumbai, June 7 (PTI) A 36-year-old man was evacuated today by the Coast Guard after he fell from the ladder of a merchant ship at Mumbai outer anchorage.
A crew member of merchant vessel "MT Sri Vishnu", carrying crude oil, fell from the 15-feet long vertical ladder and suffered injuries, the Coast Guard said in a note.
A medical emergency request was received by Coast Guard Maritime Rescue Co-Ordination Centre in Mumbai at around 5 PM and a medical evacuation process was initiated immediately, a Coast Guard official said.
According to the note, the crew member, identified as Digvijay Singh, is suspected to have received fractures on left arm and collar bone.
The official said Singh was evacuated successfully and handed over to the shipping company.
He is undergoing treatment at hospital.
