Chandigarh, Apr 12 (PTI) INLD leader Dushyant Chautala has sent a legal notice to Haryana minister Anil Vij, asking him to tender an unconditional apology for calling the former a "drug addict".
The Hisar MP claimed that Vij, in a statement on April 3, had stated before media that the INLD leader had "started taking drugs and he should go to some rehabilitation centre".
"Our client who is the youngest member of parliament in Indian history has a very clean record and image, and use of such defamatory language against him has hampered his public image," read the legal notice sent to the minister.
"It is specifically denied that our client has had ever used any narcotic drug or substance, whatsoever in his whole life, and the statement made by you is factually incorrect and a complete blatant lie with mala-fide intention to mislead the public and malign his reputation," it said.
The reported statement by the state health minister came after Chautala alleged various scams in the department headed by Vij.
The INLD leader added that he would file a civil as well as criminal case against the minister if he failed to apologise to him within a week.
