New Delhi [India], Mar 30 (ANI): Refuting the claims that EVMs cannot be used if the number of candidates exceeds 100, the Election Commission of India (ECI) spokesperson Sheyphali Saran on Friday said that EVMs can take up to 384 candidates while urging the voters not to heed towards incorrect statements."It has come to the notice of the ECI that misinformation is being spread on social media that the Election Commission's EVMs cannot be used if the number of candidates exceeds 100. Latest EVMs can take up to 384 candidates including NOTA. Wherever required those EVMs will be deployed," Saran tweeted.Saran also shared a screenshot of the post, which claimed: "If more than 100 candidates contest from a single constituency, EVMs cannot be used in such case. So, help more and more people to contest the election in your area if you want the election to take place using ballot paper instead of EVM." (ANI)
