New Delhi, October 25: Seven people have been arrested in Delhi for allegedly conducting a "fake" raid against a man living in the DLF Farms area and trying to extort Rs 5 crore from him by impersonating as officers of the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), the agency officials said on Friday.

According to officials, the ED received information on October 22, 2024, at about noon that some people posing as ED officers were conducting a fake ED search at Ashoka Avenue, DLF Farms, Chattarpur in Delhi. Delhi: ED Arrests 6 Persons in Cross-Border Drugs Smuggling Network.

It was also informed that the fake ED officers had taken the victim to Kotak bank, Hauz Kauz to withdraw Rs 5 crore from the bank account of the victim so that the amount could be extracted from him as an ED raid. The information was also passed on to the jurisdictional Delhi Police who also reached the spot and registered an FIR in the case. More details are awaited.
