Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 15 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari on Thursday said that the Congress party was planning to organise a ‘Ghar Wapsi’ programme in the near future to facilitate the return of former party members, claiming that the party received over 600 applications from those seeking to return.
Patwari made the remarks while welcoming members of the Bhim Army into the Congress party. He said people from different political parties and members of the public were expressing interest in joining the party, attracted by its ideology.
“Wherever I travel across the state, hundreds of people from different parties, as well as the general public, express their desire to join the Congress because they are attracted to its ideology. Today, several office-bearers of the Bhim Army from our state have joined us,” Patwari said.
He said the party was considering a structured programme for the return of former members who had left the Congress, subject to the approval of the respective district Congress committees.

“The Congress party, as part of its future strategy, is considering organising a ‘Ghar Wapsi’ programme in the coming days. Under this initiative, those who had drifted away from the Congress may be allowed to return, subject to the consent of the respective district units. If the district Congress committee agrees, their return could help improve the political atmosphere in the district. The state Congress has received more than 600 applications from people seeking to return to the party,” Patwari said.
He added that the applications included over 200 district presidents, former district presidents, MLAs, former MLAs, former ministers and other prominent leaders from different districts and across the state, whose return is possible.
Patwari added that Congress leaders Mukesh Nayak and Arif Masood had requested the induction of Bhim Army members into the party. Welcoming the new members, he said he was accepting them into the Congress in his capacity as the state party president.
Along with this, Patwari also alleged widespread corruption in Madhya Pradesh and accused Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of protecting those responsible.
“Madhya Pradesh is such a state that it could break a world record, even beyond those recognised by the Guinness World Records. The cancer of corruption has spread so deeply in Madhya Pradesh. Our Chief Minister is its protector,” he said. (ANI)
