Mumbai, October 20: Four men have been arrested for allegedly cheating around 160 people of over Rs 5 lakh by promising tickets at discounted rates for a garba night of singer Falguni Pathak in Mumbai, police said. Maharashtra Police arrested the four accused in the cheating case and seized a car, Rs. 91,000 in cash and a mobile phone from them.
Mumbai Zone 11 DCP Ajay Bansal said that the arrests were made based on a complaint received on October 12. The arrested accused have been identified as Ashwin Ramakant Surve, 24, Shripal Mukesh Bangadia,38, Sushil Rajaram Tirlotkar, 30, and Santosh Bhagwat Gumber, 35. The police said MHB Police Station formed a team scanned visuals of around 87 CCTVs from Borivali to Goregaon and Dahisar Checkpoint to nab the accused. According to the police, the accused hoodwinked the victims by claiming that they were the authorised dealers of Falguni Pathak's event in Borivali (West), and were selling passes for Rs 3,300, which was less than the actual price of Rs 4,500.
