Lucknow, Aug 18 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the loss of life in flood-hit Kerala and directed relief material and medicines to be sent to the state.
An official spokesperson today said in a statement that the chief minister had directed officials to send financial aid, medicines and relief material total of Rs 15 crore to the Kerala Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
Adityanath has urged self-help groups and social workers to provide all possible help and assistance to the flood-affected people of Kerala, the official said.
"In this hour of emergency, the government of UP and the people of the state are with the people of Kerala. The UP government is committed to provide relief and assistance to the flood-affected people of the state," the statement quoted the chief minister as saying.
According to authorities, 194 people have lost their lives and 36 are missing in Kerala since August 8 due to rains and landslides, while over 3.14 lakh people have been moved to relief camps.
