Indore, Mar 23 (PTI) Ignoring government's advice on social distancing, a large number people gathered at a place here in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday evening during the 'Janta curfew' to applaud those who are at the forefront of combating coronavirus and extending essential services.

The government has been regularly advising people that social distancing is a must for everyone to check the spread of the deadly virus.

According to some eyewitnesses and a purported video circulating on social media, a large number of people on two- wheelers and in cars took out a rally which passed through Rajwada area of Indore on Sunday evening.

The participants carried the national flag, rang bells and beat steel plates to express gratitude towards the health workers, police and other people involved in fighting the coronavirus during this crucial period.

Even policemen were not prepared for this sudden rush of people, but they immediately swung into action and asked those taking part in the rally to return to their homes while informing them that holding gatherings could be disastrous for their health, some eyewitnesses said.
