The accused -- Ansar alias Ansi -- was arrested on April 10 from Nelson Mandela Marg, Vasant Kunj. He was absconding since 2015 and remained active in criminal activities, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) P S Kushwah said in a statement.

To lure the businessman, the accused had given an advertisement in newspapers for sale of scrap. On seeing the advertisement, the businessman, who is a CEO of a reputed company, had come to Delhi to meet the prospective party to work out a deal.
When he came out from the airport, he was abducted at gun point. They demanded Rs 50 lakhs as ransom from the company owner, the officer said.
"In the meantime, when the Delhi Police raided Hathiya village, where they had held the businessman hostage, the accused ran away from the spot," Kushwah added.
