Rajkot, Apr 16 (PTI) Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda today appealed to the party workers to voluntarily donate funds as the state unit is facing a "financial crisis".

"The state unit is facing a financial crisis and therefore it's the responsibility of the party workers to donate funds voluntarily as per their capacity," said Chavda while addressing party workers here.

He reiterated that the Congress would appoint two "Jan Mitra" (people's friend) at every booth in Gujarat.

He said the process to appoint the jan mitra has already been started in Ahmedabad and Surat.

"The party's aim is to work from the booth level, and under this campaign, every booth will have two Jan Mitras (a male and a female)," he said.

On the occasion, he accused the BJP-ruled Central and Gujarat governments of being "anti-people". "They are working only for a few industrialists," he said.

Chavda said the Congress would promote young leaders in the 2019 general elections under the guidance of experienced leaders to "expose" the BJP.
