Mumbai, Oct 10 (PTI) A 34-year-old man wanted for allegedly circulating fake currency notes was nabbed Wednesday by the Maharashtra ATS from Andra Pradesh, an official said.

The accused Aziz Darvesh Shaikh was picked up from Kurnul town in the southern state by the Nagpada unit of the state ATS, he said.

Shaikh was arrested in 2012 along with his three aides--Mehboob Aalam Shaikh, Akram Kabil Shaikh and Nasarul Haque Shaikh--with counterfeit currency notes in denominations of now scrapped Rs 500 and Rs 1000, with the face value of Rs 3.80 lakh.

Shaikh was chargsheeted but went missing during trial. he said.

On a specific tip-off, the officials had reached Shaibgunj in Jharkhand to arrest Shaikh, but he had left the place before the sleuths could lay their hands on him.

Further investigation is underway.
