I’ve recently started using the ASUS Zenbook A16 (UX3607) which is trying to shatter that same long-standing rule. The Visual Experience:
It’s a great looking sturdy laptop. ASUS has equipped the Zenbook A16 with a 16-inch 3K Lumina OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. I get inky blacks, vibrant colours, and a peak HDR brightness of 1,100 nits that apt for video editing to casual movie watching. Because the laptop is so light (just 1.2 KG) and the display is so good, it left me wishing ASUS had the idea to completely remove the barrier and add a 360-degree hinge. Turning the display all the way around to use this device as a massive tablet feels like a missed opportunity. The glossy glass surface does pick up occasional reflections in brightly lit rooms but the sheer quality of the panel more than makes up for it.
Tactile Inputs:
When it comes to the daily tactile experience, the inputs on the Zenbook A16 are nothing short of fantastic. The keyboard offers highly satisfying key travel, making long typing sessions incredibly comfortable without any noticeable deck flex. There is, however, maybe a very small thing, but I should mention it: the keyboard light. There are four modes you can set where you turn it off, and then increase it to light, medium, and full bright. But it should have an auto display where it automatically understands if you are in a dark situation and it glows, and when you switch on the light, it goes off. That would have added the justification a bit more regarding the price and premiumness you are paying. Then comes a massive touchpad where the cursor you move is really smooth. The swipes and gestures have this buttery smooth precision.
However, the sheer size of the trackpad can occasionally lead to accidental palm touches but it remains an expansive canvas for navigating the large desktop space.
Under the Hood:
Under the hood, there’s Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme processor with up to 18 cores with a massive 48GB of RAM. I tried throwing heavy duty tasks but it handles all such loads in a jiffy. Irrespective, I’m multitasking across dozens of browser tabs or pushing through heavy productivity workloads, this machine remains fast, cool, and whisper-quiet. The thermal management is excellent where it utilizes the large chassis to dissipate heat without relying on loud, aggressive fan noise. Plus, the battery life is a massive perk. I can easily squeeze 15 to 20 hours of continuous use out of a single charge. I’m also impressed by the six linear speaker setup offering great sound. Good job, ASUS!
Ifs and buts:
The biggest caveat of the Zenbook A16 stems from its ARM-based architecture. While Windows on ARM has evolved beautifully for productivity and native Copilot+ AI applications, it is not a universally perfect fit. You should absolutely embrace this laptop if your workflow revolves around web apps, office suites, photo editing, and general media consumption. Conversely, look somewhere else if you are a hardcore PC gamer. Additionally, while the port selection is generous with a full-sized HDMI and USB-A, it would have been nice to see a USB-C charging port on the right side rather than keeping them clustered on the left. Despite these minor software compatibility hurdles and the missing auto-brightness on the keyboard, the hardware execution here is flawless.
In the end:I’m impressed by how ASUS has balanced a lightweight footprint with a remarkably sturdy build. Tipping the scales at a 1.2 kgs, it is lighter than many 14-inch laptops on the market, yet it makes close to zero compromises on structural integrity thanks to its premium Ceraluminum chassis. While a 16-inch form factor might still be physically too big for a few people who prefer ultra-compact bags that is entirely the whole point. If you are specifically looking for a display of this magnitude, I don't think you can get anything better than this at this price point as of now. It easily ranks as one of the best laptops I have experienced. It’s currently priced at Rs 204,990.My rating: 4/5
