Jalna (Maharashtra), Jun 20 (PTI) Jalna district court in Maharashtra today awarded life imprisonment to a man and his two sons for murdering a person on the suspicion that he practised black magic against them.

District judge N R Pradhan pronounced the verdict today.

Assistant government pleader Deepak Kolhe said that Bhanudas Asaram Kumkar and his sons Eknath and Jagganath, residents of Revgaon, were accused of murdering Shankar Bhagwan Kumkar, a relative.

A woman in the accused's family was ill, and a self-styled godman told the accused that someone was practising black magic against them, Kolhe said.

The accused suspected that it was Shankar, and murdered him on January 6, 2015, said the government pleader.

Apart from sentencing the trio to life imprisonment, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of them.
