Electric vehicle manufacturer Ather Energy has confirmed plans to introduce its maiden electric motorcycle to the Indian market within the next three years, targeting performance levels equivalent to traditional internal combustion engine models ranging from 150cc to 300cc.
As per a report by Bike Advice, the Bengaluru-based company is taking a measured approach to its motorcycle development cycle, emphasizing that understanding consumer attachment and riding identity remains a core priority before finalising the precise physical architecture.

Speaking on the challenges of shifting focus from utility scooters to performance motorcycles, company co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Swapnil Jain noted that motorcycles carry deep emotional value for riders. Consequently, engineering teams are independently developing a flexible vehicle platform capable of handling higher voltage thresholds, varied battery chemistries, and specialized motor outputs.
While initial timelines previously pointed to an earlier release window, leadership has dedicated additional time to evaluate body styles and specific regional preferences.
