After launching MG Hector SUV in India last year, the carmaker is all set to launch its second product in the Indian market. MG Motor India has officially announced that the ZS EV Electric SUV will be launched in India on January 27, 2020. Interestingly, the company will be offering an electric SUV with an introductory price for the first 1000 customers only. Notably, the bookings for MG ZS EV SUV were initiated on December 21, and the same will close tomorrow. The automaker has confirmed that the electric SUV will be initially available in five Indian cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad Bengaluru and Ahmedabad. On the design front, the MG ZS EV comes with an aggressive look underlined by bold diamond finished grille upfront with LED projector headlamps, swooping bonnet, curved roofline, LED taillights and more. Dimensionally, the electric SUV from MG Motor India measures 4,314mm in length, 1,809mm in width and 1,620mm in height whereas the wheelbase stands at 2,579mm.

Like MG Hector, the new MG ZS EV will feature all car technology that we have seen in the first car. However, the SUV will be packed with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system instead of a 10.4-inch screen seen on Hector. The SUV will come equipped with a 44.5 kWh battery that gets IP6 certification. The battery powers the synchronous motor to produce 141bhp of maximum power with 353Nm of peak torque.

The company claims that the SUV can offer a range of 340km in a single charge. Additionally, the MG ZS EV SUV can clock three-figure mark in just 8.5 seconds. Also, the company will be offering three drive modes on the electric SUV - Normal, Eco and Sport. The lithium-ion battery can be charged up to 80 percent in just 40 minutes with 50kW DC charger.

To be brought into India via CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route, the forthcoming electric SUV from MG Motor India will be assembled at its plant in Gujarat. As far as the prices are concerned, the company is expected to launch its first electric SUV in India somewhere around Rs 22 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
