According to the annual holiday schedule released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the closures include routine mandatory weekend breaks along with major national and regional observances such as Independence Day, Eid Milad-un-Nabi, Raksha Bandhan and Onam.
While physical branch operations will be unavailable on these specific days, online banking services, mobile apps, unified payments interface (UPI) networks, and automated teller machines (ATMs) will remain fully operational across the country.
Weekend Closures: Second/Fourth Saturdays and Sundays
Under RBI regulations, all commercial, cooperative, and regional rural banks observe mandatory closures on Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. August 2026 comprises five Sundays alongside two mandated Saturday holidays:
