Approximately 800 former employees of the US-based healthcare solutions firm CorroHealth in Kerala have successfully secured an enhanced compensation package following government-led negotiations. This development comes nearly three weeks after the company’s abrupt decision to cease its operations in Kochi and Kozhikode, which had left the workforce facing sudden financial uncertainty.
Government Intervention and Settlement Terms
The breakthrough followed a meeting chaired by Labour Minister Bindu Krishna at the Secretariat Annex on 20 July. As per a report by The South First, CorroHealth has agreed to provide an additional five months of gross salary to the affected staff, supplementing the two months of compensation previously announced. Documentation and Employment Support
Beyond the immediate financial relief, the settlement addresses critical administrative concerns for the departing workforce. The firm has agreed to issue experience certificates, relieving letters, and all other necessary employment documentation without further delay. Additionally, CorroHealth has committed to assisting former employees in their search for alternative job opportunities, a measure intended to mitigate the impact of the sudden closure. Resolution of Labour Dispute
The agreement concludes a period of significant tension that began on 3 July, when CorroHealth announced the permanent wind-down of its Kerala centres. While the improved package provides temporary stability, many former employees have expressed ongoing concerns regarding the difficulties of securing new positions in a challenging job market, particularly given the sudden nature of the layoffs and existing financial commitments.
