Rahul Roy OPENS Up About Struggling Financially

Roy's health crisis in 2020, which occurred while he was shooting for his film LAC – Live The Battle in Kargil, severely impacted his career, leading to a nearly six-year hiatus from consistent work. The actor emphasised the difficulty of finding acting roles after his stroke and the necessity of taking up alternative income streams.

"I have expenses, and I need the money. Getting work after my brain stroke in 2020 was difficult. It's been five years since then, and I was doing whatever I could to keep things going. Sometimes, I earn INR 2 lakh or 4 lakh by dancing at weddings. People who troll me don't know that this is hard work. I have to earn my bread and butter too,” Roy stated, addressing the public's perception of his wedding performances.

Beyond the struggle for work, Roy also disclosed other significant financial pressures. He is currently embroiled in a legal case concerning a sum of approximately INR 30 lakh, which he and his brother are actively working to resolve. Furthermore, he revealed that during his divorce from model Rajlaxmi Khanvilkar (married 2000-2014), he transferred assets to his former wife, necessitating him to rebuild his finances entirely from scratch.

Journey to Recovery and Rebuilding

Despite the setbacks, Rahul Roy remains determined to reclaim his standing in the industry. He has expressed gratitude for the support received from Bollywood colleagues during his difficult period, specifically mentioning Salman Khan (who reportedly assisted with his hospital bills), Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Farah Khan, Archana Puran Singh, and Pooja Bhatt.

Reflecting on his journey, the Bigg Boss Season 1 winner, who also starred in films like Junoon and Phir Teri Kahaani Yaad Aayee, shared his optimism for the future. "The last five years have almost been like a break because I was recuperating. There was no work. If that hadn't happened, I would have done much more. But now, I am getting some work and want to do a lot more. I was happy to be back on the set and face the camera. I am really thankful to the people who are trusting me. In my 37-year journey in films, I believe I have done some good work, and now I am looking forward to doing more," Roy concluded, highlighting his enduring passion for acting and his resolve to continue his career.
