We were quite excited when we heard that Ranbir Kapoor and Ajay Devgn will be playing the main leads in director Luv Ranjan's next. Luv Ranjan is known for making the Pyar Ka Punchanama series and the recent Rs 100 crore grosser, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. While Ajay Devgn is already working with Luv Ranjan for one of his productions, this is the first time Ranbir is working with the director. Ranbir and Ajay had earlier worked in Prakash Jha's multi-starrer, political thriller Raajneeti.

While we have our share of multi-starrers on the way with Salman Khan's Race 3, Alia Bhatt's Kalank and Ajay Devgn's Total Dhamaal leading the pack, a dual hero project is a riskier idea to execute. For one, in an industry where star egos rule over, it is not easy to make a two-hero movie where both stars have equal standing. Surprisingly, it was easier in the '70s and the '80s where such movies were a trend of its own. But since the dawn of the millennium, many of our heroes chose to shirk away from sharing screen-space with another hero, especially the top-strung stars.

However, the recent success of Padmaavat (having Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh) may have motivated more stars to join hands. Like the Ajay Devgn-Ranbir Kapoor starrer, there are some very interesting 2-hero movies on the way, six of which we have mentioned below,

Thugs of Hindostan

Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan join hands for the first time for what could be Bollywood's most expensive movie of the year. Aamir Khan is reportedly playing a pirate in this period saga, while Bachchan is playing a pirate-lord.

Karwaan

Dulquer Salmaan makes his Bollywood debut with this road trip comedy, where he is paired with the great Irrfan Khan. Mitali Palkar co-stars.

Manmarziyaan

After a gap of two years, Abhishek Bachchan returns to the screen with this Anurag Kashyap movie. He will be fighting for the affections of Taapsee Pannu with Vicky Kaushal, who was recently seen in Raazi.

Brahmastra

Amitabh Bachchan returns on this list again, this time pairing with the much younger Ranbir Kapoor in Ayan Mukerji's fantasy thriller. Alia Bhatt plays the female lead.

Hrithik vs Tiger

Tiger Shroff will go up against his real-life idol, Hrithik Roshan in this yet-untitled YRF movie directed by Siddharth Anand. Vaani Kapoor is the sole leading lady.

Panipat

Ashutosh Gowariker goes back in history once again to relive an important chapter, the Third Battle of Panipat. Arjun Kapoor plays Maratha warrior Sadashiv Rao Bhau, while Sanjay Dutt plays Afghan conqueror  Ahmad Khan Abdali. Sanjay Dutt will also play the antagonist in Ranbir Kapoor's Shamshera.
