Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor's courtroom drama Batti Gul Meter Chalu is not performing as we all expected it to. The movie that also stars Yami Gautam in the lead role had a rather dull opening on its day 1 and trade pundits wondered if the collections will improve miraculously on the weekend. However, despite the ongoing festive season, the movie failed to register any significant number on its first Saturday and collected Rs 7.96 crores, taking its total collection to Rs 14.72 crores. Shraddha Kapoor in Batti Gul Meter Chalu, Alia Bhatt in Dear Zindagi - 7 Times When Popular Actresses Broke Stupid Notions and Surprised Us With Their OnScreen Kisses - View Pics.

Popular trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter account to reveal the Saturday collections of BGMC. He wrote #BattiGulMeterChalu witnesses 17.75% growth on Day 2, but since the starting point was low, the 2-day total is lacklustre... Needs miraculous growth on Day 3 - in double digits - for a respectable weekend total... Fri 6.76 cr, Sat 7.96 cr. Total: ₹ 14.72 cr. India biz. #BGMC.

Now we wait to see if Sunday plays any vital role in increasing Batti Gul Meter Chalu's total collection. With Stree still going strong at the box office, it's difficult for Shahid's movie to enjoy a free run at the box office. Trade pundits wondered if Padmaavat's humongous success would help Batti Gul Meter Chalu rake in additional moolah at the BO. However, looking at the current scenario, his initial success is definitely not helping the actor achieve any remarkable feat for his new release.
