The celebratory, love-filled pictures from their wedding in Lake Como, Italy, are still a talking point for their fans. But if you remember for the longest time the couple maintained a silence on their relationship. It was not until a few days before their wedding when Deepika appeared on Koffee with Karan 6 and revealed that she had been dating Ranveer for over 6 years now. First Meeting - 2012
Ranveer Sigh first laid his eyes on Deepik when they were attending an awards ceremony in 2012, in Macau. During a Q&A session on Twitter, Ranveer told a fan, “How can one possibly forget the sight?”
Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela – 2012-13
The actors were roped on for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram-Leela. The production on the movie began during 2012 and the film was shot until the first quarter of 2013. The movie was released in November 2013.
Reports suggest that sparks flew between Ranveer and Deepika right off the bat. The raw sexual energy between the couple is evident even in the film and no wonder the movie earned over Rs 200 crore at the box office.
Romance Gets Stronger – 2014
Ranveer made a cameo in Deepika Padukone’s Finding Fanny and played her groom. The couple also performed together at an awards show that year and by this time, their romance rumours had become a fan favourite topic.
Love is in the Air – 2015
There were many moments where Deepika and Ranveer spoke a lot about their romance without uttering a word. For instance, Ranveer was part of a roast comedy show, where other comedians and Arjun Kapoor openly talked about DeepVeer’s romance.
At a party hosted by Farah Khan, Deepika made an exit with Karan and Ranveer chased her with a rose. An elaborate joke that was captured by the paparazzi and loved by the fans.
June 2015 saw another awards show moment that added fuel to the fire. Ranveer got down on one knee and sang Ram Chahe Leela for her. They featured on Vogue India’s October 2015 issue.
The biggest moment? They starred together in yet another Bhansali movie, Bajirao Mastani. The movie also turned out to be a huge hit. While promoting the film, we saw many moments of PDA between the two. For instance, the time when Ranveer kept staring at Deepika as she spoke during an interview.
Padmaavat – 2016-2017
Deepika starred in a Hollwyood film, Return of Xander Cage, this year. Vin Diesel accidentally called Ranveer as Deepika’s boyfriend during an interview thus letting the cat out of the bag.
The couple was roped in for yet another Bhansali magnum opus, Padmaavat. Before the movie, they had started making more and more public appearances together.
Deepika and Ranveer did not have a single scene together in Padmaavat. So, chances of on-set romance were zero. But the movie got them closer any way. The movie turned out to be one of the most controversy-ridden films of our times. From protests all over the country to legit bans on the film, Padmaavat saw it all. Death threats were issued to Deepika by leaders of fringe groups and political parties. Of course, distressing times like these are going to bring a couple closer. The movie could not find a release until 2018.
Wedding Bells in 2018
Deepika and Ranveer’s PDA was on full display throughout 2018. Entertainment portals ran stories about their break up, and the couple would quash the rumours by making appearances together. As the year entered September, murmurs about a wedding began in the industry.
Deepika and Ranveer confirmed their wedding in second week of November. Their wedding took place on November 14-15, with multiple receptions following later.
