Here's Why Pali Hill Bungalow Is 'Controversial'
For the unaware, the bungalow sold by Kangana Ranaut has previously been involved in legal disputes. In September 2020, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) partially demolished the property, citing illegal construction. However, the demolition was halted when the Bombay High Court issued a stay order on September 9, 2020. Ranaut subsequently filed a lawsuit against the BMC, initially seeking INR 2 crore in damages. She withdrew her compensation claim in May 2023, ending a prolonged legal battle that had added to the property's controversy. ‘Emergency’ Postponed: Kangana Ranaut Announces Delay of Her Directorial Debut Due to CBFC Clearance (View Post).
'Emergency' Row
Ranaut’s property sale coincides with the delay of her highly anticipated film, Emergency. Originally set for a September 6 release, the film is pending certification from the censor board. It has faced controversy, with Sikh organizations like the SGPC and Akal Takht accusing it of misrepresenting the Sikh community and calling for a ban due to concerns about negative portrayals. The movie narrates the story of India's PM Indira Gandhi.
