The EC has stayed firm on its decision to defer the release of PM Narendra Modi biopic. In a report submitted to the Supreme Court (SC) it has mentioned that ‘more than biography, it is hagiography’. It also mentions in the report that it will ‘tilt the electoral balance’ of the ruling party BJP, reports TOI. The producers of the film had challenged EC’s decision of stalling the biopic despite it getting a clearance from the CBFC. The EC setup a special committee to watch the film and submitted its report to SC.

The report stated, “The committee is of the considered view that the public screening of the movie PM Narendra Modi during the period of model code of conduct will tilt the electoral balance of the particular political party, therefore, the public screening, of the movie PM Narendra Modi should not be allowed till last date of poll on May 19 in the ongoing elections,” reported TOI. It also mentioned, “Eulogising of the character Narendra Modi is very clear right through the movie. More than biography, it is hagiography. There are several scenes depicting a major opposition party as corrupt and showing them in poor light. Their leaders have been depicted in such a manner that their identification is clear and obvious to the viewers.” It is clear that PM Narendra Modi biopic, the 136-minutes film, will not hit the big screens before May 19. Let’s wait and watch when it will get the final release date. Stay tuned for further updates.
