The clarification regarding the release dates comes from producer Namit Malhotra, who addressed the staggered schedule in an exclusive conversation with NDTV. This announcement ends speculation surrounding the film's premiere, which was initially rumoured to be a universal November 6 release after Sony Pictures' international trailer drop.

When Is Ramayana Releasing in India?

Indian audiences will be able to experience Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana: Part One in cinemas on Sunday, November 8, 2026, perfectly timed to coincide with the auspicious occasion of Diwali. This means a slight wait for domestic viewers compared to their international counterparts. The film, produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations, is set to be a visual spectacle, promising to redefine Indian cinema on a global scale.

Speaking to NDTV, producer Namit Malhotra elucidated the reason behind the bifurcated release strategy. He stated, “So we are releasing internationally on November 6. The international distribution works from a Friday standpoint, so that's why it's releasing on the 6th of November. But in India, we are currently targeting the Diwali release.” This strategic move positions the film for maximum impact across different markets, catering to established distribution norms while capitalising on the major Indian festival.

Malhotra also highlighted the immense early success of the film's promotional material, noting that the Ramayana trailer garnered over a billion views within just five days of its release, signifying massive anticipation.
