Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan starrer Simmba has finally crossed the Rs 240 crore mark at the Indian box office. After releasing on December 28 and getting off to a flying start, the Rohit Shetty directorial slowed down at the ticket windows after Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike arrived in theatres on January 11. Despite tough competition from Uri, Simmba continued to get cash registers ringing and is still running in the theatres. Film trade expert Taran Adarsh took to Twitter a while and announced the updated figures. Simmba Box Office Collection: Ranveer Singh Starrer Slows Down, Mints Rs 238.67 Crore.
He wrote, "#Simmba crosses ₹ 240 cr... Biz at a glance...Week 1: ₹ 150.81 cr, Week 2: ₹ 61.62 cr, Week 3: ₹ 20.06 cr, Week 4: ₹ 6.19 cr, Week 5: ₹ 1.20 cr, Weekend 6: ₹ 22 lakhs. Total: ₹ 240.10 cr. India biz. BLOCKBUSTER."
Apart from faring well in India, Ranveer starrer cop drama has done exceptionally well overseas too. In fact, the film crossed the Rs 350 crore mark at the global box office long back and became Shetty's highest grossing film till date. Simmba is also Ranveer's biggest solo hit since his debut in 2010.
Though Simmba released just a week after Shah Rukh Khan's Zero and opened to not so great reviews, it managed to impress the audience big time especially Ranveer's dumdaar performance. And hence the phenomenal box office numbers. While Simmba has minted big money so far, it may not enter the Rs 250 crore club considering both Uri and Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi are currently ruling the box office. Uri - The Surgical Strike Box Office Collection Day 24: Vicky Kaushal's Film Beats Baahubali 2 Record and Creates History, Rakes in Rs 189.76 Crore.
