Deepika Padukone is one happy person at the moment. The 32-year-old has proven her mettle with the success of Padmaavat – her toughest film till date. The portrayal of Rani Padmavati not only tested Deepika’s acting skills but also the mental strength of a star who was subjected to umpteen threats by fringe groups. However, all said and done, Deepika’s third collaboration with noted filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has passed the big box office test with flying colours. The film in three weeks of its release has collected around Rs 245 crores, the highest-grossing movie of Deepika Padukone’s career. Howbeit, she is still far behind Katrina Kaif in the race to be the reigning Box Office Queen. The box office collection of Kat’s Tiger Zinda Hai with Salman Khan is way ahead of Padmaavat box office report, giving Katrina an edge over Deepika!

After days of speculations, controversy-laden Bhansali’s epic-period Padmaavat finally saw the light of the day on January 25 – however, many as four states had banned the film. But film proved to be successful in bringing audiences to theatres especially after Akshay Kumar and makers of Padman decided to back out of the clash and letting Padmaavat enjoy a solo release on the long Republic Day weekend.

Keeping all factors (non-stop protests, political agendas and of course Swara Bhaskar and alike’s opinion), the film braved its way to take the box office by storm. Keeping aside the collections earned via paid previews a day before the official release, Padmaavat’s opening day collection reads Rs 19 crores.
