This year can be safely called as the ultimate game-changer. 2018 gave chance to the underrated artists, who fit into the category of 'actors' but not 'stars' or preferably 'superstars'. Now, when we say superstars, you must have already visualized the Khans and Kapoors right? However, this year was not as fruitful as they visioned it would be. With the bunch Ayushmans and Rajkumars and Vickys, for that matter even Gajaraj Rao, it was seemingly difficult for this 'older' generation to sustain the 'superstar aura' which they exuded for decades together. Gone are the days when the fans were coaxed to worship the superstars as now here are the new heroes of the town.

Race 3- I don't even know where to start with this film. From invading the franchise to changing the cast, to singing and turning into a poet, Salman Khan did it all wrong! His dapper look could not save the flick from falling into the hands of the trolls. Oh did I mention dancing?

Thugs of Hindostan- The stakes were high and the expectations were higher. Two of the biggest superstars- Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan were the eminent part of this grand film along with Katrina Kaif. However, Vijay Krishna Acharya, unfortunately, could not put their skills into proper use and here we faced the biggest disaster of the year. What a perfect example of content > surnames! Thugs of Hindostan: Katrina Kaif Copying Zoe Saldana’s POTC Dialogue Was the Cringiest Moment From Aamir Khan’s Box-Office Bomb!.

Fanney Khan- Another star-studded cast with the reunion of stars Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Sadly, Ash had nothing much to offer other than her super-glamorous presence and Anil Kapoor's ease too did not do much to add power in the story. Saviour was Rajkummar Rao, again who is not a superstar.

October- Touted to be the youngest superstar of B-town, Varun Dhawan, decided to divulge into off-beat cinema. A perfect decision! The Shoojit Sircar film was a cinematic masterpiece that will appeal to the true film lovers. However, the Dhawan guy has already become synonymous to glamour and dance. This overshadowed this experiment and in return, the film could not garner the 'hit' tag.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu- Just because you have a dancer-actor like Shahid Kapoor and a giggling beauty like Shraddha Kapoor on the screen, does not mean people will not watch the story. The same pair gave a beautiful performance in Haider and fans loved it the core. However, maybe they took this love a bit too much for granted and landed up giving us BGMC.

Helicopter Eela- The supposed comeback film of Kajol was not taken seriously by her own fans I guess. Her energetic vibe and the script could not impress many. Maybe, the actress needs to come out from the Anjali in her.

Padman- Again a film that has social drama expert Akshay Kumar and glam queen Sonam Kapoor. The movie surely grabbed headlines with the trailers and the first looks but nothing beyond that. Some did like it though, but a lot is expected when Khiladi Kumar invests into something. Padman was no Airlift or Rustom! It's Akshay Kumar vs John Abraham Again On Independence 2019 As Mission Mangal Clashes With Batla House.

These actors have entertained us for so many years and it is just sad when the fans get let down by their movies. Although we love them as much as we did earlier, maybe we need an upgrade from their side now, beyond their heavy surname, politically correct image or favourite genre.
