Varun Dhawan is currently shooting for Remo D' Souza's Street Dancer with Shraddha Kapoor and later he has the remake of Coolie no 1 with Sara Ali Khan. However, a project of his that made headlines the most was Shashank Khaitan's Rannbhoomi. It was touted as a war drama and a rather ambitious project being helmed by Khaitan. Yes, there were reports about it getting shelved for the longest of time but that's not the case. And the confirmation is coming straight from the horse's mouth. Varun Dhawan on Kalank’s Downfall at the Box-Office: It Is for the First Time I Went Through a Failure.

When Pinkvilla got in touch with Khaitan to have an update on his next, he said, "Rannbhoomi script is done. The VFX and CG research is going on currently but there's no timeline to the film yet." Though the film is currently in its initial stages, we are glad for it will see the light of the day someday. However, Shashank is simultaneously working on a different script for Varun and it will be a usual commercial entertainer like their previous associations.

A source close to the same web portal confirmed a new project by saying, "Shashank is currently concentrating on putting together a project which will be in the same space that VD and his films usually are. It's another commercial entertainer but not the third part in the Dulhania series. Shashank and Varun are best friends and he has already discussed the whole idea with him. VD has okayed the film which is currently in the scripting stage. Once that's complete, Shashank, KJo and Varun will take a call on which film to roll first with - Rannbhoomi or the new one." Street Dancer 3D: Varun Dhawan All Praise for Prabhudeva on Re-Creating Mukkala Muqabala.

Meanwhile, the buzz around Varun's spy thriller can be put down to rest for the project is officially shelved. "That project is definitely not happening. The second half of the spy thriller wasn't shaping up the way I had anticipated, and I felt if I have nothing new to say, I should not say it." Well, Varun and Shashank have previously delivered a couple of hits and we have some high hopes pinned on their next collab. Hope it turns out really good.
